Transport Solutions<br />
9 January, New Delhi<br />
A conference was organised by the <strong>CII</strong> Delhi State<br />
Council, during Auto Expo <strong>2010</strong>, to identify specific<br />
issues and solutions towards transforming Delhi into a<br />
world class city. Dr Noor Mohammed, Member Secretary,<br />
NCR Planning Board shared the details of the Integrated<br />
Transport Plan for NCR .<br />
Himachal Pradesh<br />
Meeting with Chief Secretary<br />
2 January: Shimla<br />
<strong>CII</strong> HP State Council organised a meeting with Mrs Asha<br />
Swarup, Chief Secretary, Himachal Pradesh, to discuss<br />
the issue of permitting renting out surplus built up spaces<br />
in industrial buildings built after obtaining permission<br />
under Section 118. The meeting also discussed other<br />
related issues.<br />
Pre Budget Memorandum<br />
18 January, Shimla<br />
<strong>CII</strong>’s Pre-budget Memorandum <strong>2010</strong>-11 to the<br />
Government of Himachal Pradesh emphasizes that the<br />
upcoming budget for the state should have a reformsbased<br />
agenda, with special focus on infrastructure<br />
development, which is hampering the growth of industry<br />
in the State. <strong>CII</strong> has also recommended a quantum leap<br />
in the budgetary allocation for tourism infrastructure.<br />
Sustainable Technologies<br />
21 January, Chandigarh<br />
Taking forward the initiative of making Himachal Pradesh<br />
the first carbon-neutral state in India, <strong>CII</strong> submitted a<br />
proposal to the State Government for greening existing<br />
industry, CO2 emission quantification and disclosure, and<br />
a policy road map. Ms Sarojini Thakur, Additional Chief<br />
Secretary, Himachal Pradesh, sought industry’s help to<br />
make the state carbon neutral, create more jobs and<br />
livelihood and develop health infrastructure.<br />

Jammu & Kashmir<br />
Workshop on Supervisory Skills<br />
20 January, Jammu<br />
The workshop on ‘How to Develop Supervisory Skills’<br />
equipped the participants with proven supervisory<br />
techniques to plan, organize, communicate and monitor<br />
effectively in every situation, and leverage both hard<br />
skills and people skills to meet new challenges.<br />
<strong>CII</strong> Presents Pre Budget Memorandum<br />
21 January: Jammu<br />
A <strong>CII</strong> delegation led by Mr Sanjay Puri, Chairman<br />
<strong>CII</strong> J &K State Council presented the Pre-budget<br />
Memorandum for Jammu & Kashmir to Mr Abdul Rahim<br />
Rather, Minister for Finance, J&K. The memorandum<br />
recommends the introduction of the Model Electricity<br />
Act 2003 in the state, removal of toll tax on fuel,<br />
consumables and packaging material, exemption of<br />
work contract tax, and makes several suggestions<br />
relating to VAT. <strong>CII</strong> also recommended the cluster<br />
approach for MSMEs.<br />
Punjab<br />
Interaction with ICRIER<br />
25 January: Amritsar<br />
An interactive session with the representatives of ICRIER<br />
discussed issues of concern of industry on Indo – Pak<br />
trade, such as Wagah Border trade, restrictions on<br />
issuance of visas to Pakistan, installation of jumbosized<br />
scanner at Wagah checkpost, non-stoppage of<br />
Delhi Lahore bus service and Shamjhauta Express at<br />
Amritsar, poor physical infrastructure at Amritsar railway<br />
checkpost and non allowance of trade in containers<br />
through the Wagah border.<br />
Interaction on Ludhiana<br />
21 January: Ludhiana<br />
The <strong>CII</strong> Ludhiana City Development Core Group<br />
organized an interaction with Mr A K Sinha, Municipal<br />
Commissioner, Ludhiana, to discuss various issues<br />
related towards the development of the city. These<br />
included power back up for traffic signals, pedestrian<br />
signals at all traffic lights, flashers on 17 identified black<br />
spots and a ring road for Ludhiana.<br />

Nanhi Chaan, a <strong>CII</strong> Northern Region Initiative promoting<br />
gender equality and ecological conservation was<br />
