around the world. The fund is a rapid response grantmaker<br />

that provides short-term funding for quick responses to<br />

emergency situations in which women’s human rights may<br />

be limited, including political repression, armed conflict,<br />

and escalating violence. The Fund does not award grants for<br />

development projects, natural disaster relief, humanitarian<br />

aid, conference travel, general support, or groups that are not<br />

primarily led by women.<br />

The specific grant categories are: 1) Response to armed<br />

conflict, escalating violence, or politically volatile<br />

environments 2) potentially precedent-setting legal<br />

or legislative actions, or actions that aim to protect a<br />

precedent that has already been set, and 3) protection and<br />

security of women human rights defenders.<br />
