sheer number of <strong>the</strong>se suggestions enjoins us all to take this report seriously.<br />
Jackson’s magisterial work, <strong>the</strong>n, provides useful context for examining issues<br />
around Māori <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> criminal justice system today. Are Jackson’s criticisms still<br />
relevant almost a quarter of a century later, in 2012? Has <strong>the</strong> New Zeal<strong>and</strong><br />
criminal justice system accommodated any of Jackson’s proposals? How would<br />
Jackson look upon <strong>the</strong> system today? Those questions are taken up in <strong>the</strong> next<br />
