SENIOR SCHOLARSHIP AND AWARDS
TO: MEMBERS OF THE CLASS OF 2009
PLEASE NOTE CAREFULLY THE FOLLOWING SCHOLARSHIPS AND AWARDS:

The following scholarships are open to seniors in the top third of the class who
academically meet the individual scholarship criteria.
1. Ruby E. Wheeler Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship is in memory of Ruby E. Wheeler and is awarded to students who have demonstrated highest
consistent achievement in all academic areas. (Scholarship awards change from year to year.)
2. Helen Cvanciger Memorial Scholarship
This $10,000 scholarship will be awarded to a female, ranking in the top twenty percent of her class over four
years ($2,000 the first two years and $3,000 the next two years) pending acceptable progress towards a business
degree. Preference will be awarded to students demonstrating financial need.
3. National Council of Jewish Women Scholarship
This $1,500 scholarship is awarded to a graduating female who has demonstrated good academics, participation
in school activities, and outstanding community service.
4. Greater Bridgeport Retired Teachers Scholarship
This $1,200 scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior who is interested in pursuing a career in education.
Student must have demonstrated scholarship, citizenship and community service.
5. Monsignor John Hayes Anderson Memorial Scholarship
Two $1,000 scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors planning to attend an accredited four-year college,
whose scholastic achievement, character, and service are consonant with Monsignor Anderson exemplary
career.
6. Stratford Educational Association/Stratford Administrator Association Scholarship
This $1,000 scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior who exhibited outstanding extra curricula activities
and volunteer work, received exceptional recommendations from their teachers and guidance counselor,
demonstrated four years of hard work evidenced by their high school grades, and displayed passion in their
essay on their dedication and future plans of becoming an educator.
7. Frances Christine Vodola Memorial Music Scholarship
This $1,000 scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior who has excelled in the area of classical music
including voice.
8. Stratford Recreation Department Scholarship
This $600 scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior who demonstrates good character, scholarship and must
participate on the Stratford High School boys or girls Golf Team.

9. Helen K. Barnish Scholarship
A $500 scholarship is awarded by the Lordship Parent-Teachers Association, in honor of Helen K. Barnish,
former principal of Lordship School, for scholastic ability and leadership.
10. Albert Cioffari Memorial Award
This $500 award is presented by the Stratford Public Works Local #134 to a graduating senior for outstanding
academic performance in math courses and will pursue studies involving mathematics.
11. Frederick A. DeLuca Foundation Scholarship
Two $500 scholarships are awarded to seniors who have proven success in all areas of academic achievement.
Preference should be awarded to those students who work at a Subway Restaurant or next, to those students that
are employed while attending school, have been accepted by an accredited college or university. Financial need
is considered.
12. Mildred Schilling Memorial Scholarship
This $500 scholarship is awarded by the Stratford High School faculty in memory of Mrs. Schilling, to a student
who has achieved high scholarship, possesses outstanding character, and has actively participated in
extracurricular activities.
13. Stratford High School Faculty Scholarship
This $500 scholarship is awarded by the faculty of Stratford High School to an outstanding member of the
graduating class who possesses high scholarship, outstanding character, and exemplary leadership qualities.
14. Stratford Visiting Nurse Association Nursing Scholarship
This $500 scholarship is awarded to a student who has maintained a B or better average and has been accepted
at an accredited college/nursing school with the intent of receiving a degree or diploma in nursing and
becoming a registered nurse.
15. Lorraine Florence Foell Hillgen Memorial Scholarship
One $400 scholarship ($100 per year for four years) is awarded to a graduating senior who excelled
academically and exemplifies the ideals by which Mrs. Hillgen lived life, which includes: enthusiasm,
intelligence, self-motivation, diligence and an overwhelming generosity in helping others.
16. American Legion Scholarship
This $300 scholarship is awarded by the Anderson-Dunn-Kochiss Post No. 42, American Legion to a student
who has been outstanding in United States History.
17. Stratford High School Drama Society Scholarship
Two $300 scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors who have a grade point average of 3.0 or better, 4-
year involvement in drama or music programs and are pursuing a college degree in Theatre Arts or music.
18. Nichols School PTA Scholarship
Two $300 scholarships are awarded to deserving graduates of Nichols School who have demonstrated good
citizenship, integrity and academic responsibility.

19. James C. & Mary E. Burns Scholarship
A $250 scholarship is awarded to an outstanding member of the graduating class who has displayed excellent
academic achievement and citizenship.
20. David Duckworth Memorial Scholarship
This $250 scholarship is awarded to a member of the National Honor Society who is planning to continue
his/her education in the science field. This includes: nursing, doctor, pharmacist, physical therapist, etc. The
recipient must show financial need.
21. Stratford Republican Party Award
This $250 award is presented in memory of Karl Scholanick to a senior who has demonstrated outstanding
qualities of scholarship and leadership in the area of social studies and has contributed service to the
community.
22. Michael Swirsky Memorial Scholarship
This $250 scholarship is awarded in memory of Michael Swirsky to an individual who has exemplified
scholastic and athletic ability.
23. Maria Antidormi and Agnes Pruzinsky Memorial Scholarship
A $200 scholarship is awarded to a student for scholarship, leadership, and athletic achievement.
24. Buckmir Family Scholarship
Two $200 scholarships are proudly awarded by the Buckmir family, Elizabeth ('81), Michael ('83), Edward
('86) and their parents to a student who has displayed academic and athletic prowess during his/her years at
Stratford High School.
25. Franklin School PTA Scholarship
A $200 scholarship is awarded to a graduate of Franklin School in honor of Miss Genevieve McCoy and Mr.
Joseph Troiano. This scholarship is based on scholastic standing and character. Students applying for this
scholarship must have attended Franklin School for at least four years.
26. Veteran of Foreign Wars, Post 9460, Raymond T. Goldbach Memorial Award in honor of John
Early
This $200 scholarship is awarded to sons or daughters of a present or former member of the Armed Forces who
is active in school programs and the community and also maintains good grades.
27. Veteran of Foreign Wars, Post 9460, Raymond T. Goldbach Memorial Award in honor of Hugh
Hoyt
This $200 scholarship is awarded to sons or daughters of a present or former member of the Armed Forces who
is active in school programs and the community and also maintains good grades.
28. Korean War Veterans Award
This $200 award is awarded to a graduating senior who is related to a Korean War Veteran, maintains good
grades and is active in school programs.

29. Stratford Women's Club Scholarship
This $150 scholarship is awarded to a female graduate for scholarship and citizenship.
30. Gregor Chren French Scholarship
This $100 scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior for accomplishments in French.
31. Gregor Chren Language Scholarship
This $100 scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior for academic accomplishments.
32. Christine Bunting Middleton Memorial Award
This $100 scholarship is awarded to an academically and athletically gifted female student.
33. Lippincott Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science
This $100 scholarship is awarded in memory of Lowell Lippincott and in honor of Estelle Lippincott to a
graduating senior for excellence in mathematics and science.
34. Rubye Kinlow McNeil Memorial Scholarship (English Major)
This $100 scholarship is awarded by Raye Wilson, in memory of her mother, a former English teacher at
Stratford High School, to a graduating senior who has demonstrated dedication to their studies and will go on to
further education in the field of English.
35. Angelina Palmer Memorial Scholarship
This $100 scholarship is awarded to a student in the business curriculum who has achieved excellence in
scholarship and demonstrated exemplary qualities of leadership and effort.
36. Richard G. Ross Scholarship
This $100 scholarship in honor of Richard G. Ross is awarded to a senior boy who, like Mr. Ross, exemplifies
excellence in academics, athletics and community service.
37. Stratford High School Academic Scholarship
Ten $100 scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors who demonstrate strong academic performance.
38. Harry B. Flood Memorial Award
This $50 award is presented to the athlete who has best exemplified high standards of scholarship and
citizenship.
39. Stratford Recreation Department Scholarship
This $50 scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior who demonstrates good character, scholarship and must
have participated in a Recreation Department program at some time in their lives. (One page essay required.)
40. Stratford Republican Women's Association
This $50 award is presented to a senior who has demonstrated outstanding qualities of scholarship and
leadership in the area of Social Studies and has contributed service to the community.

41. Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary Award
This $50 award is presented for excellence in United States History and American Government.
42. Ruby E. Wheeler Memorial Award
This $50 award is presented to the student who has displayed fine strength and character, determination and
integrity as exemplified by Ruby Wheeler.
The following scholarships are open to all seniors. Awardees will be selected
according to the individual scholarship criteria.
43. Stratford Rotary Club Allen B. Vermilya Memorial Scholarship
This $2,000 scholarship ($500 for four consecutive years) is awarded by the Stratford Rotary Club for
scholarship and citizenship as evidenced by involvement in both school and community activities.
44. Stratford Masons Scholarship
(Sponsored by The Baldwin Chapter #13 Royal Arch Masons)
This $1,500 award is presented to a graduating senior with serious financial need who plans on attending
college.
45. Lordship Fathers' Club Award
This $1,250 scholarship is awarded to a Lordship resident in memory of the deceased members of the Lordship
Fathers’ Club.
46. Frank P. Blando Jr. Memorial Award
A $1000 scholarship is awarded to a student who plays football and exemplifies the ideals of Frank P. Blando
Jr., including a concern for others, spirit, perseverance and hustle.
47. Class of 1958 Scholarship
This $1000 scholarship is awarded by the alumni of the Class of 1958 to a graduating senior who has exhibited
positive character qualities.
48. Ted DeLauro Scholarship Fund
This $1,000 scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior who has demonstrated serious commitment to
community service.
49. Stratford Trumbull Civitan Award
This $1,000 is awarded in memory of Nick Pasquarella to that student who has made conspicuous contributions
as a good school and community citizen. Financial need considered.
50. Karen and Leonard Kleinman Memorial Scholarship
Two $750 scholarships are awarded in memory of Karen and Len Kleinman to the male and female graduates
who through their four years at SHS have shown a commitment to learning and caring about others, while
displaying a sense of humor and a love of life.

51. Michael C. Reilly Memorial Scholarship
This $750 scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior related to a professional firefighter who will continue
his or her education.
52. Emma Butler Memorial Scholarship
This $500 scholarship is awarded by her family to graduating senior who exemplifies Emma Butler’s
commitment to Stratford’s South End Community. The candidate must demonstrate community service, be an
African American with preference given to a student with South End experience.
53. William J. Carroll Scholarship
This $500 scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior who has exhibited outstanding leadership qualities and
has actively participated in school or civic organizations.
54. Class of 1958 Scholarship
Four $500 scholarships are awarded by the alumni of the Class of 1958 to a needy graduating senior who has
exhibited positive character qualities
55. Roberta Davis Discenza Memorial Scholarship
This $500 scholarship is awarded to a graduating student of Stratford High School for continuing education, and
does not necessarily have to be used for a four year school, may be used at a Community College, Technical
School, Culinary School (any type of higher education past high school). Applicant must be an above average
to average student who demonstrates good citizenship and financial need. Student should also have
demonstrated interest and/or participation in water sports, such as swimming, boating, Long Island Sound
ecology or marine science. Particular consideration should also be awarded to a student who meets the above
guidelines and is also a member of a drum and bugle corps or color guard although this should not be held as a
requirement to meet the scholarship's criteria.
56. Delta Kappa Gamma Society International: Beta Chapter Award
This $500 award is presented to a graduating female who will be entering a teacher education program. The
student must demonstrate the qualities consistent with the promise of leadership in education, including
scholarship and community service. Financial need may be a consideration.
57. Olga & Dimitri Jankowich Scholarship
A $500 scholarship is awarded by the Fairfield County Community Foundation in memory of Olga & Dimitri
Jankowich.
58. Gladys V. Jubb Scholarship
Four $500 scholarships are awarded by the graduates of the Stratford High School Class of 1937 in memory of
Gladys V. Jubb, history teacher and Class Advisor. The award is presented to a student planning to continue
his/her education in the field of teaching.
59. Wyler Kardos Scholarship
This $500 scholarship is awarded in memory of Doris Wyler Kardos and her father William T. Wyler to a
deserving Lordship resident who is continuing his/her education.

60. Dr. Martin Luther King Scholarship
This $500 scholarship is awarded by the Stratford Clergy Association to an African American student who has
demonstrated commitment to social justice through involvement in extra curricular activities and who plans to
pursue a college education.
61. Dr. Martin Luther King Scholarship
This $500 scholarship is awarded by the Stratford Clergy Association to student who has demonstrated
commitment to social justice through involvement in extra curricular activities and who plans to pursue a
college education.
62. Anthony F. Mack Memorial Scholarship
This $500 scholarship is awarded by his family to a senior member of the basketball team who displays good
sportsmanship and plans to pursue a college education.
63. America-St. John's Lodge #8 A.F. & A.M. Masonic Scholarship Award
This $500 scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior who plans to continue his education in a technology
field.
64. Mildred McGovern Memorial Scholarship
This $500 scholarship is awarded by the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 15 of Milford to a student
entering the nursing field who has contributed to the community.
65. Sodexho School Service Award
This $500 award is presented to a graduating senior who will continue his or her education in the field of
culinary arts.
66. Stratford Council of PTA Scholarship
A $500 award is presented to a student planning to continue his/her education and the student and parent are
involved with the PTA.
67. Stratford Lions Club John Serfilippo Memorial Scholarship
A $500 scholarship is awarded to a student who has made contributions as a good school and community
minded citizen.
68. Stratford Police Athletic League (PAL) Scholarship in Memory of Officer Thomas Hoffman
This $500 scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior who demonstrates extraordinary commitment to
volunteering demonstrated by the number of service hours performed.
69. Anthony C. Vena Memorial Scholarship
A $500 scholarship is awarded by the Stratford Volunteer EMS Association, Inc. to a graduating senior who is
planning a career in a medical related field, has financial need, and has been involved in community work.
70. Brakettes Softball Scholar Athlete Award
This $300 award is awarded to a senior member of the Stratford High School softball team who displays the
qualities of sportsmanship and fair play and who plans to continue his or her education beyond high school.

71. Frank Scott Bunnell Memorial Award
A $300 scholarship is awarded to a student who exhibits interest in the humanities and the arts.
72. Class of 1959 Scholarship
This $300 scholarship is awarded to a son or daughter of a graduate of Stratford High School who has shown
academic progress.
73. Peter (Chip) Molnar Memorial Scholarship
This $300 scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior who volunteered in special needs programs or events
that showed concern for the most vulnerable among us.
74. Anne and Anthony Musante Memorial Scholarship
This $300 scholarship is awarded to a student planning a career in the field of business.
75. Square One Theater's William A. Barry Memorial Scholarship
This $300 scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior who has contributed to school life by active
participation in Theater Arts or Drama Club.
76. Martha Ciccarelli Memorial Scholarship
Two $250 scholarships are awarded to seniors whose parents have demonstrated a strong commitment to the
philosophy of volunteering, particularly to the Stratford High School Post Prom. Martha's memory will live on
in the project that she loved so much.
77. Computer Science Award
A $250 award is presented by John McLachlan to a student for achievement in computer science.
78. Richard D. Murphy Mathematics Scholarship
This $250 scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior who has demonstrated an outstanding interest in the
fields of mathematics and its real-world application, a direct-action involvement within the school community
and/or the larger political, economic and social community, and an intellectual curiosity in the applied fields of
mathematics.
79. Oronoque Village Condominium Association Scholarship
This $250 scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior who is pursuing a program of higher education.
80. James W. Penders Memorial Scholarship
A $250 scholarship is awarded to a member of the baseball team in memory of James W. Penders, former
coach, teacher and administrator.
81. Ronald S. Siksay Memorial Scholarship
A $250 scholarship is awarded in memory of Ronald S. Siksay, past president and coach of the Stratford Pony
Baseball League, to a graduating senior who is a former member of the league and plans to continue his/her
education.

82. Stratford Chamber of Commerce/Bridgeport Regional Business Council Scholarship
A $250 scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior who plans to pursue further education in the field of
business. First preference will be awarded to a School to Career program or Future Business Leaders of
America student who has demonstrated high moral character and integrity, an awareness of ethical behavior and
a commitment to life-long learning.
83. Stratford Firefighters Local 998 Award
This $250 award is presented to a son or daughter of a relative of a firefighter (IAFF) or who is pursuing a
related career to firefighting.
84. Stratford Little League Scholarship
A $250 scholarship is awarded in memory of Ryan Wauthier, to a boy or girl who participated in the Stratford
Little League.
85. Stratford Old Timers Athletics Association Scholarship
A $250 scholarship is awarded to a student for contributing / participating in athletics at Stratford High School
and who will continue his / her education.
86. Stratford High School Student Council Service Scholarship
A $250 scholarship is awarded to a student for their contributions and participation in all student council
sponsored events.
87. SHS Red Devil Booster Club, Vincent Buelher Volleyball Scholarship
This $200 scholarship is awarded by the Red Devil Booster Club to a graduating senior who has participated in
the volleyball program.
88. Elizabeth C. Coughlin Memorial Scholarship
This $200 scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior for academic improvement, character, and contribution
to school life.
89. Class of 1958 Scholarship
A $200 scholarship is awarded by the alumni of the Class of 1958 to a needy graduating senior who has
exhibited positive character qualities.
90. Coach Walter Czekaj Memorial Award
Two $200 awards are presented each year to a senior player from the football and wrestling teams. These
athletes should exemplify the ideals that Coach Czekaj valued in his playing and coaching career at Stratford
High School. The qualities of leadership, sportsmanship, outstanding effort and love of the sport represent
Coach Czekaj's ideal player.
91. Mary C. Coughlin Hausman Memorial Scholarship
This $200 scholarship is awarded to a senior who is planning a career in nursing.

92. Cupheag Club Award in Memory of President Duguay
This $200 is awarded to a graduating senior who has displayed an interest in the historical aspects of the Town
of Stratford.
93. Wilma A. Hopkins Memorial Award
This $200 award is presented to a student who has been active in the performing arts curriculum and will
continue his/her education in fine arts or a related field.
94. Library Media Center Award
This $200 scholarship is awarded for outstanding service to the Stratford High School Library Media Center.
95. William Lindberg Jr. Memorial Scholarship
This $200 scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior who has been associated with the baseball team.
96. Glencora Ketcham Maresca Art Scholarship
This $200 scholarship is awarded to a senior who has shown initiative and self-motivation in the study of art.
97. Thomas C. and Ruth A. Lawrence May Scholarship
This $200 scholarship is awarded by family and friends to a senior girl who has participated in the athletics
program at Stratford High School
98. Marie McCormick Memorial Scholarship
A $200 scholarship is awarded to a student in the Business Education curriculum who has achieved excellence
in the technology area of the curriculum. The student should have demonstrated exemplary qualities in
leadership and effort. This award is intended for a student who has demonstrated determination and
perseverance in his/her pursuit of excellence.
99. Simon Mogelof Memorial Scholarship
A $200 scholarship is awarded for excellence in art, utilizing varying subject matter and media. The student
should exhibit the application of art to issues of the environment, justice and world peace.
100. Stratford High School PTSA Scholarship
These $200 scholarships are awarded to a boy and a girl graduate with good citizenship and school spirit. The
student, parent or legal guardian must be a member of the PTSA in the current school year and can join at
anytime by contacting Mrs. Pancak at 386-9099. (The number of scholarships and amounts may vary each year
per Stratford High School Parent Teacher Student Association.)
101. Stratford High School PTSA Spirit Awards
These $200 scholarships are awarded to a boy and a girl graduate who have actively participated in Stratford
High School and the Stratford community through various associations, clubs, youth groups and activities. The
student, parent or legal guardian must be a member of the PTSA in the current school year and can become a
member at anytime by contacting Mrs. Pancak at 386-9099. (The number of scholarships and amounts may
vary each year per Stratford High School Parent Teacher Student Association.)

102. Robert S. Wonneberger Memorial Scholarship
This $200 scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior who will continue her/his education in the field of
special education.
103. Wooster Middle School Scholarship
A $200 scholarship is awarded to a deserving graduate of Wooster Middle School.
104. Evelyn Holmer Wordell Scholarship
A $200 scholarship is awarded to a graduate who indicates a desire to major in English. It is the wish of the
sponsor of this award to recognize a student for success at their level of instruction. It does not have to be a
student with an outstanding GPA. The intent is to recognize a student who may not have been eligible for
scholarships. If an English major is not available art or music are also other choices.
105. Everett J. Wordell Scholarship
A $200 scholarship is awarded to a graduate who has put forth great effort and achieved success in mathematics
at Stratford High School. It is the wish of the sponsor of this award to recognize a student for success at their
level of instruction. It does not have to be a student with an outstanding GPA. The intent is to recognize a
student who may not have been eligible for scholarships. If a math major is not available art or music are also
other choices.
106. Leonard & Bertha Hessinger Memorial Scholarship
This $150 scholarship is awarded to a student who shows academic improvement.
107. Shaklee Environment Award
This $125 scholarship is awarded to a member of the Environmental/Earth club or a senior who volunteered on
a community "environmental" event/project. (Example: clean-up or taking "Environmental Science Class).
108. Stratford School Custodians Scholarship
This $125 scholarship is awarded by the school custodians to a graduating senior who plans to continue his
education.
109. Pearl Elizabeth Bach Scholarship
A $100 scholarship is awarded to a graduate entering the field of elementary education. (Preference will be
awarded to a graduate of Nichols School, if possible.)
110. Keith J. Bodnar Memorial Award
This $100 scholarship is awarded to the senior who has displayed strength of character, integrity, and personal
courage as exemplified by Keith Bodnar.
111. Joseph B. Clark Memorial Scholarship
This $100 scholarship is awarded to a student planning a career in education.
112. Class of 1951 Scholarship Award
A $100 award is presented to a graduating senior who has displayed determination and academic progress
throughout his/her high school years.

113. Class of 1963 Scholarship
This $100 scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior who has displayed service to the school and is
dedicated to the greater Stratford community.
114. Class of 1966 Scholarship Award
This $100 scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior who has displayed significant improvement in
academic achievement throughout his/her high school years.
115. Class of 1996 Scholarship
This $100 scholarship is awarded to a senior class officer who fulfilled the duties of office with a charismatic
and positive attitude.
116. Class of 2009 Service Award
These $100 awards are presented for outstanding service to the senior class. (The number of awards may vary
from year to year.)
117. Mary Elizabeth Cooney Award
This $100 scholarship is awarded in memory of Miss Mary Elizabeth Cooney for character, contribution to
school life, and success in mathematics.
118. Henry E. Crawford Scholarship
This $100 scholarship is awarded to a student who is pursuing a program of higher education.
119. Benjamin Cutrufello Memorial Scholarship
This $100 scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior who has shown proficiency in the Business curriculum
and plans to continue his or her education.
120. Michael Diedrickson Memorial Award
A $100 award is awarded to a member of the senior class who will be joining the Marines or any branch of the
Armed Services or who plans on attending college. Financial need is considered.
121. Charles H. Fenton, Jr. Memorial Award

124. Anthony J. Marranzino Jr. Memorial Scholarship
This $100 scholarship is awarded in memory of Anthony J. Marranzino, Jr., Class of 1994, to a graduating
senior who is an active member of the Drama Club and has exhibited good leadership qualities, honesty, fair
play, unselfishness, a sense of humor, and school spirit.

125. Rubye Kinlow McNeil Memorial Scholarship
This $100 scholarship is awarded by Raye Wilson, in memory of her mother, a former English teacher at
Stratford High School, to a graduating senior who has demonstrated dedication to their studies and will go on to
further education.
126. National Helicopter Museum, Inc. Award
This $100 award is presented to a graduating senior wishing to pursue a career in aviation or a related field.
Special preference is given to anyone planning to attend the Stratford School for Aviation Maintenance.
127. Robert Newall Scholarship
Two $100 scholarships are awarded to one male and one female who participated in the indoor and outdoor
track programs. The recipients should show the qualities of dedication to the sport, leadership, and teamwork.
128. Walter J. Roberts, Jr. Memorial Award
A $100 award is presented to a technology education student for integrity and achievement.
129. Walter J. Roberts, Sr. Memorial Award
A $100 award is presented to an outstanding technology education student.
130. Nicholas Rotunno Jr. Memorial Scholarship
A $100 scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior who is a current member of SADD and actively
participated in SADD/MADD programs in Stratford High School or in the community.
131. Mead Jon Scofield Memorial Award
A $100 award is presented to a graduating senior for his/her humanity and athletic ability.
132. Mr. and Mrs. Charles E. Senft, Sr. Memorial Scholarship
Two $100 scholarships are awarded in memory of Mr. and Mrs. Charles E. Senft, Sr. to graduating seniors who
plan on pursuing a career in Physical Education or a Health related field. Students must exhibit the qualities of
the six pillars of character (Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring, and Citizenship) and
must have contributed in some way to SHS and/or the Stratford community.
133. John Stavola Memorial Scholarship
A $100 scholarship is awarded by Mr. Angelo Stavola to a graduating senior who has been in the athletic
program at Stratford High School and will continue his/her studies at the college level.
134. Mary A. Stavola Memorial Scholarship
A $100 scholarship is awarded by Mr. Angelo Stavola to a graduating senior who has demonstrated interest in
the pursuit of culinary arts.
135. Stratford High School Athletic Association Award
Two $100 awards are presented to students for service to the athletic association, and for displaying
sportsmanship and citizenship.
136. Stratford High School Red Devils Booster Club Scholarship
These $100 scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors who have participated in varsity athletics at
Stratford High School. (The number of scholarships may vary from year to year.)

This $100 scholarship in memory of Richard Zahner is awarded to a student who has contributed to the
betterment of SHS.
140. Peter Dimenno Award
A $50 award is presented for quality workmanship in the technology education curriculum.
141. Josephine Dimenno Memorial Award
A $50 award is presented to a graduating student who excels in culinary arts.
142. Alice Hawley Award
A $50 award is presented in memory of Alice T. Hawley to a deserving high school senior who plans to further
his/her education in the field of education or human services.
143. Mercie Buswell Kravec Memorial Award
A $50 award is presented to a student of excellent character who is entering a career in the medical or health
field.
144. Usher's Guild Merit Award
A $50 award is presented to a senior member of the Usher's Guild who has awarded countless hours of service
to Stratford High School.
145. Court of St. Cecilia #735 Award
A $25 award is presented for excellence in accounting.
146. Vincent P. "Wee" Devitt Memorial Award
Two $25 awards are presented to students who have participated in the baseball and softball programs.

A $25 award is presented to a graduating senior who has awarded generously of his/her time to a wide variety
of school activities.
