SELECTION OF <strong>SBA</strong><br />
SAMPLES<br />
Each centre must submit ONE <strong>SBA</strong> sample consisting of the<br />
work of FIVE (5) candidates to the External Moderator<br />
for reassessment.<br />
After the candidates‟ <strong>SBA</strong> scores have been entered online,<br />
the sample for the centre will be automatically selected by<br />
the <strong>SBA</strong> online application using the following procedure:<br />
The total <strong>SBA</strong> scores for ALL candidates will be<br />
arranged in order of performance, from highest to<br />
lowest mark.<br />
The <strong>SBA</strong> online application will then select the<br />
candidates who gained the<br />

highest mark<br />
middle (median) mark<br />
lowest mark<br />
mark that is midway between the highest<br />
mark and the middle mark<br />
mark that is midway between the lowest<br />
mark and the middle mark.<br />
Where the number of candidates is less than 5, the work of<br />
ALL candidates must be submitted.<br />
The External Moderator will reassess the work and submit<br />
the completed Moderation of <strong>SBA</strong> Form and the External<br />
Moderator‟s Form to the Local Registrar by the stipulated<br />
deadline.<br />
RESIT PROVISIONS<br />
At registration, the previous year‟s registration number must<br />
be indicated.<br />
All candidates with their previous year‟s registration<br />
numbers must be listed on the Record Sheets, if these are<br />
being used.<br />

Candidates who have earned moderated marks equal<br />
to 50% or more of the total <strong>SBA</strong> marks may elect not<br />
to repeat the <strong>SBA</strong> component, provided that they<br />
rewrite the examination during the subsequent year.<br />
Candidates whose moderated marks are less than<br />
50% of the maximum <strong>SBA</strong> marks for the subject,<br />
must repeat <strong>SBA</strong> requirements at any subsequent<br />
sitting of the examination.<br />
