Coaching
Our coaches continue to make an outstanding
contribution to an individual’s experience and long
term participation in the sport. Our volunteer coaching
workforce should continue to be recognised and
acknowledged for the exceptional work, delivering a
positive and fun experience to our members.
This past year has seen the implementation and
progression of coach education, development and
accreditation. These advances will build a workforce
that supports a positive and inclusive Softball
experience.
Accreditation and professional development
Work has continued over the last 12 months to update
the existing Level 2 and 3 National Coach Accreditation
course resources. The resources developed for each
program consist of the Participant’s Manual, Deliverer’s
Guide, Assessment Booklet and presentation. Levels 1-3
have now been approved by the ASC and form part of
the National Coaching Accreditation Scheme (NCAS).
Forty-six coach accreditation courses were conducted
across the country. The majority of new coach
accreditations were achieved through a combination
of face-to-face courses and online learning, which
gives coaches the opportunity to complete their
accreditation at their own pace. The total number of
accredited coaches at 30 June 2012 is 2,052, broken
down as follows:
