About the Author
Christopher Duffy was born in 1936. After gaining a doctorate in history at
Oxford he joined the Department of Military History at the Royal Military
Academy, Sandhurst, in 1961. He left the RMAS as a senior lecturer in War
Studies in 1996 to take up a research professorship at De Montfort University,
Bedford. He now occupies himself with writing, supporting the conservation of
historic sites, and voluntary work in the Court Witness Service. He is the author
of some twenty-five books, most recently Through German Eyes – The British
and the Somme 1916. He is at present up-dating The 45. Bonnie Prince Charlie
and the Untold Story of the Jacobite Rising.
