Why don't we go back and why don't we simply
have a rule that says for samples collected prior to our
report that none of them may be used without explicit

have had some second thoughts about that. I think, first
of all, I would continue to feel that our overriding
principles should be informed consent. If you have got a
number of samples that you have had for a number of years
and it is literally impossible to gain that consent then my
next question would be what is the next best principle to
use and I like the idea of the IRB's and the definition of
the role of the pathologist. That softens the issue
somewhat for me.
