Registrations<br />

<strong>Body</strong> <strong>Art</strong>ist (Practitioner) Registration<br />

Anyone engaged <strong>in</strong> the bus<strong>in</strong>ess of tat<strong>to</strong>o<strong>in</strong>g, body pierc<strong>in</strong>g, brand<strong>in</strong>g and the<br />

application of permanent cosmetics must register with the Environmental <strong>Health</strong><br />

Division <strong>in</strong> Sacramen<strong>to</strong> <strong>County</strong> prior <strong>to</strong> conduct<strong>in</strong>g bus<strong>in</strong>ess. The artist must have proof<br />

of current Hepatitis B vacc<strong>in</strong>e, evidence of completion of the OSHA Bloodborne<br />

Pathogen Tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g, pho<strong>to</strong> I.D. ( must be 18 years or older), two passport pho<strong>to</strong>graphs,<br />

documentation of six months m<strong>in</strong>imum of related experience ( first time registrants<br />

only), bus<strong>in</strong>ess address, and payment. Practitioner registration must be renewed<br />

annually. Registrations must be ma<strong>in</strong>ta<strong>in</strong>ed on site at the bus<strong>in</strong>ess at all times.<br />

* All other permits and licenses <strong>to</strong> conduct bus<strong>in</strong>ess must be obta<strong>in</strong>ed.<br />

<strong>Body</strong> <strong>Art</strong>ist (Apprentice) Registration<br />

Anyone ga<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g experience at a tat<strong>to</strong>o<strong>in</strong>g, body pierc<strong>in</strong>g, or permanent cosmetics facility<br />

under the direct supervision of a Practitioner must register with the Environmental<br />

<strong>Health</strong> Division <strong>in</strong> Sacramen<strong>to</strong> <strong>County</strong>. Apprentice registration must be ma<strong>in</strong>ta<strong>in</strong>ed on<br />

site at the bus<strong>in</strong>ess at all times. Once the six month apprenticeship is complete, the<br />

lower portion of the Apprenticeship Notification form must be completed and returned <strong>to</strong><br />

EMD.<br />

<strong>Health</strong> <strong>Permit</strong>s<br />

<strong>Body</strong> <strong>Art</strong> Facility <strong>Health</strong> <strong>Permit</strong>s<br />

An owner of a body art bus<strong>in</strong>ess (whether perform<strong>in</strong>g body art or not) is required <strong>to</strong><br />

obta<strong>in</strong> an annual health permit from the Environmental <strong>Health</strong> Division (EH) <strong>in</strong><br />

Sacramen<strong>to</strong> <strong>County</strong>. Each location is required <strong>to</strong> have its own health permit. <strong>Permit</strong>s<br />

are not transferrable. The holder of the facility health permit is responsible for ensur<strong>in</strong>g<br />

that only registered practitioners with valid health permits and/or registered apprentices<br />

are work<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> the bus<strong>in</strong>ess, for keep<strong>in</strong>g all clean<strong>in</strong>g and sterilization equipment <strong>in</strong> good<br />

operat<strong>in</strong>g condition, and for ma<strong>in</strong>ta<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g a master <strong>in</strong>fection prevention and control plan<br />

that covers all people <strong>in</strong> the bus<strong>in</strong>ess.<br />

Any owner who violates this requirement will be subject <strong>to</strong> closure of the facility by EH<br />

and a penalty not <strong>to</strong> exceed three times the permit fee will be applied.<br />
