Sixth Street Shelter Project- PART 2-<br />
“The Build!”<br />
<strong>First</strong> <strong>Presbyterian</strong> <strong>Church</strong> will be participating<br />
with Habitat for Humanity to build a 5 apartment<br />
addition to the Sixth Street Shelter.<br />
We need your help! New Blitz weeks are<br />
June 3 – June 15<br />
Volunteers are needed daily for the following (see back for job descriptions):<br />

Carpentry (8 volunteers per day)<br />
Lunch Crew (4 volunteers per day)<br />
Site clean-up (2 volunteers per day)<br />
There are also opportunities later in the year for painting, finish carpentry, and flooring installation.<br />

Job Descriptions:<br />
Carpentry (8:00 am – 3:00 pm): Must be at least 18<br />
This team will help frame the building and provide other miscellaneous carpentry support. Needed skills<br />
can be quickly taught at the jobsite by the very experienced site supervisors. During the Blitz weeks, we<br />
need experienced and un-experienced volunteers for heavy lifting, nailing, hammering, nailing partitions<br />
together, house wrap, staple, and taping activities.<br />
Lunch (10:00 am – 1:00 pm):<br />
This team will prepare lunch for the work crew at the jobsite starting about 10 am in <strong>First</strong> Pres’ kitchen.<br />
Food and recipes will be there waiting. The team will then take the lunch to the jobsite and clean-up afterwards.<br />
Site Clean-Up (8:00 am – 3:00 pm): Must be at least 18<br />
No construction skills required. This team will clean-up construction debris as it begins to accumulate<br />
throughout the day. The goal is to keep the worksite safe by keeping it clean.
