The <strong>Christian</strong> <strong>Appalachian</strong> <strong>Project</strong> is an<br />

interdenominational, non-profit <strong>Christian</strong><br />

organization committed to serving people in need in<br />

Appalachia by providing physical, spiritual and<br />

emotional support through a wide variety of programs<br />

and services.<br />

will be taught how responsibility directly<br />

relates to others, to themselves and to<br />

the whole world.<br />

Suit, 2 pr. Gym Shoes, Sweatshirt,<br />

Sleeping Bag if Possible<br />

(Please mark the clothes as<br />

campers have a tendancy to leave<br />

them at camp)<br />

Personal Hygiene Items:<br />

Toothbrush, Toothpaste, Hair<br />

Brush, Soap, Wash Cloths, Towels,<br />

Shampoo, Deodorant, Needed<br />

Medications (to be in original<br />

containers only)<br />

<strong>Camp</strong>ers SHOULD NOT Bring:<br />

Money, Food, Jewelry, Tobacco,<br />

Weapons, Personal Electronics<br />

(iPod, Video Game Systems, Cell<br />

Phones, etc.)<br />

All children will be checked in by a<br />

nurse.<br />

Children are not allowed to use<br />

the phone, but parents may call<br />

and speak to a staff person if they<br />

are concerned about how their<br />

child is doing.<br />

WE BELIEVE:<br />

Each child is a unique individual with their own special talents and strengths. We seek to provide activities<br />

that allow all children to learn new skills and to experience success.<br />

WE SEEK TO PROVIDE ALL ACTIVITIES IN A SAFE MANNER AND:<br />

Have trained lifeguard on staff<br />

Require children to wear life jackets any time they are<br />

near the water unless they have passed a swimming test<br />

Provide training to all camp staff and counselors<br />

Have medical personnel on staff<br />

REGISTRATION: You may call <strong>Camp</strong> Shawnee or contact your Family Resource Center for applications.<br />

<strong>Camp</strong> Shawnee MUST receive your application 2 weeks (14 days) prior to the <strong>Camp</strong> session your child is<br />

planning on attending. You will receive a confirmation letter in the mail one week before your camp starts.<br />

There will be a $10.00 registration fee per camper which is non-refundable.<br />

TRANSPORTATION: The drop-off location is at St. Martha’s Church on Watergap Road in Prestonsburg,.<br />

You will receive a confirmation that contains a registration number. Please be sure that you bring this letter<br />

with you to the drop off site. Your child will not be accepted without the confirmation letter.<br />
