Religious Education
We are still looking for
Catechists for the Upcoming School Year.
Please prayerfully consider giving of your time and talent to share your Faith with the
youth of St. Thomas More Parish.
We can’t do it without you!
If you are interested in becoming a Catechist, please contact the Religious Education

Accepting Registrations for the 2013/2014 School Year.
Some classes and days are filling quickly, so please register as soon as possible.
You can find registration forms on the parish website: www.stm-church.com under the
Religious Education tab, or come to the Religious Education office
during regular business hours.
To accommodate summer vacation schedules, all
bulletin articles must be submitted at
least two (2) weeks in advance
to guarantee publication, in effect until mid-September.

Sunday Nursery
The St. Thomas More Nursery is always in need of teen (age 12
to 17) and adult volunteers to assist in the Nursery during the
10:00 a.m. Sunday Mass. The Nursery operates from September
through May. To volunteer, contact Kaaren at (219) 836-5079.

Individuals are also needed to help with bingo at the Med-Inn.
Meet in the 1st floor cafeteria at 10:00 a.m. on the second

Travelers Club
Cantigny Gardens in Wheaton, IL
August 8, 2013 from 8:30 a.m.- 4:00 p.m.
Join us as we travel to Cantigny Park, well-known for its formal
Rose, Prairie, Idea
& Rock Gardens.
Our first stop will
be at the Visitor
Center to learn
about the history
of this beautiful
500 acre park,
founded by Robert
McCormick, a
politician, citizen
soldier & gentleman farmer while he was the editor & publisher
of the Chicago Tribune newspaper. We’ll visit the McCormick
Home & tour the McCormick & Tank Division Museums with
time at the Cantigny Shoppe for those who wish to shop.
Lunch will be at the LeJardin Restaurant, located in the Visitors
Center, followed by plenty of time to enjoy the many trails
running throughout the gardens; the highlight of the day!
A stop back at the Visitors Center at Bertie’s Coffee Shop for a
pick-me-up of coffee, refreshing smoothies, delicious baked
goods or yummy Homer’s Ice Cream (this is not included in the
price of the trip) and another beautiful view.
Cost is $36/person & includes transportation, lunch & gratuities.

Holy Name Society
The Holy Name Society will begin its 2013/14 session on
Monday, August 19th in the Solar Room.
As in past years, we will begin with the Rosary at 7:00 p.m.,
followed by a meeting to discuss our general business.
Refreshments will served at the end of the business meeting.
All men of the parish are invited and encouraged to attend.
The Holy Name Society is a unique ministry that doesn’t
require a great time commitment and yet can provide the
spiritual development you may need to grow closer to God and
His Church. Meetings usually conclude by 9:00 p.m. Come
meet other men of the parish and share in the fellowship.

Our annual Evening of Reflection will be held on
Tuesday, September 17th at 6:00 p.m.
with Retreat Leader, Fr. Rick Holy at the Carmelite Shrine .

Thoughts on Living Stewardship
Seventeenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Jesus is describing God’s immeasurable generosity when He
says in today’s Gospel, “Whoever asks, receives; whoever
seeks, finds; whoever knocks, is admitted.” But it should also
be the description of us as Christian stewards—those seeking
to follow Christ by using our gifts in service to others.
