The state of the art new 220kV power
transformer factory was inaugurated
during the visit of Dr.Wucherer on 3rd
September 2007. The chief guest was
the Governor Sindh, Dr. Ishrat Ul
Ebad. On this occasion the
landmark of 25 years of
power transformer
manufacturing was
also celebrated.

industrial complex provided an ideal
setting for this event. The guests included
a cross section of society including
diplomats, businessmen, media, high
government officials and elite of the
country.
Upon arrival the chief guest was warmly
welcomed by the workers who broke into
applause as his motorcade reached the
new factory. He than proceeded to raise
the curtain on the inauguration plaque.
The chief guest than visited the new
factory and inspected the pictorial display
of the history of transformer
manufacturing in Pakistan by Siemens.
After formal inauguration the chief guest
accompanied by Dr. Wucherer and top
management of Siemens reached the
venue for formal presentations and
speeches.
This portion of the event started with a
presentation on the new facility by Mr.
Ishtiaq Ul Haq Div.Director Transformers
followed by award of certificates to
Siemens
employees and
outside consultants
who had significantly
contributed towards the
completion of this mega facility
of the region.
The Governor of Sindh Dr. Ishrat Ul Ebad
speaking on the occasion welcomed Dr.
Wucherer and said that His presence here
shows the confidence of foreign investors
in this country and in this province.
Referring to the Siemens calendar the
governor said that Karachi is now a mega
city and this position has also been
portrayed in your international calendar
where Karachi features with top countries
of the world like New York, London, Hong
Kong and Karachi.
The Governor termed it an important day
for Siemens, for Karachi and the province
of Sindh. He said that Siemens that has
been here since the inception of Pakistan
and thus knows this country like the back
of its hand has by the establishment of
this new factory with substantial
investment decided that a climate exists
for safe and profitable investment. He
congratulated Siemens on their right
decision and on the timely completion of
this project that represents direct foreign
investment resulting in employment and
earning of foreign exchange for the
country by export of these transformers.
Professor Dr. Klaus Wucherer addressing
this important gathering said that the
presence of Governor of Sindh in this
ceremony shows his interest and support
for companies that are willing to invest
and enlarge their stake in Pakistan. He
said that it is very rare that the same
person that laid the foundation stone also
inaugurates the same project but in this
case we are very fortunate that His
Excellency the
governor of Sindh who laid
the foundation stone also
performed the inauguration.
This represents stability and continuity
that are so vital for economic progress of
any country. Dr.Wucherer said that
Siemens has been an equal partner in the
progress of Pakistan which is borne out
by the fact that today we are also
celebrating 25 years of Power Transformer
Manufacturing by Siemens Pakistan. This
demonstrates the tremendous
contribution of the company towards
transfer of technology for local production
of vitally needed components to enhance
the infrastructure of the country.
Dr.Wucherer pointed out that Siemens is
already a major exporter of Engineering
goods and services from Pakistan and this
new facility is expected to enhance
Siemens capabilities for exports.
Mr. Sohail Wajahat H. Siddiqui in his
address of welcome offered thanks to the
Governor Sindh who despite his very busy
schedule accepted the invitation to be the
chief guest at this very important occasion
and as the MD put it “this demonstrates
his commitment to encourage foreign
investment in Pakistan and in the province
of Sindh.” Mr. Sohail Wajahat said that
the importance of this occasion can also
be measured by the fact that today we
have with us a very important figure from
Siemens A.G. Dr. Klaus Wucherer Member
of the Corporate Executive Committee
and Member of the Managing Board of
Siemens A.G. and head of Asia Pacific
including Australia. We welcome
Dr.Wucherer whose presence together
with that of the Governor Sindh has
greatly enhanced the importance and
prestige of this occasion.
Mr.Sohail Wajahat said that this project
reflects Siemens confidence in the
economic environment of Pakistan and
our trust in the policies being pursued
by the present government. He said that
only recently we have also acquired CTI
in Islamabad which represents another
significant investment by our company
in Pakistan and confidence in the
economic policies of the government.
After formal speeches a plaque specially
commissioned to mark the occasion was
presented to the governor by
Dr.Wucherer while the governor
presented a similar plaque to
Dr.Wucherer.
