Adding Megawatts to Lahore
A Milestone Project by CIP

With the tremendous efforts of
team, a successful SAP Go Live was
achieved on Nov 12, 2007 in Punjab
Beverages (PEPSI) in Faisalabad.
This is the first project in Beverages
Industry and in Faisalabad.
Siemens donates computer
RAM to Art Institute
Siemens Pakistan on the request of
Central Institute of Arts and Craft
donated a computer RAM of 512 MB
to facilitate the work of the institute.

Human Resources Department of the Year
Award” from the Rosen Group, a
Philadelphia-based HR talent placement
and management firm. Linda Helfer, vice
president, HS Human Resources, and
Jeanne Carter and Teresa Rothermel, the
HS HR partners who had driven the
application, accepted the honor on Med’s
behalf.
The entry detailed how the team
successfully partners with the business
her thanks and said the donation will
go a long way to uplift the education
of arts and crafts. Siemens supports
projects that make Pakistan a cleverer,
healthier and enjoyable place.
Human Resources Department of the
Year Award 2007 for Siemens
through the SPP HR and the Med HR
Strategy. Highlights included the role of
the HR partner and the integration of
various HR processes such as the EFA/PMP,
Upward Feedback, and the Leadership
Quality Analysis. HR partner best practices
were also highlighted.
This annual award, founded in 1998,
recognizes Philadelphia-area HR
departments that have demonstrated
overall service excellence and whose work
has impacted the success of their
organization.

Pakistan is facing one of the worst energy crises
of its history. The gap between energy demand
and supply has grown sharply over the last few
years making life harder for the masses according
to newspaper reports.
The unprecedented urban growth a mega trend
that is taking place in developing countries
reflects the hopes and aspirations of millions of
new urbanites. Cities have enormous potential
for improving people’s lives. One of these major
cities is Lahore. With a rich cultural heritage in
its background, Lahore is counted as one of the
historical cities of the world. Like most of the
other urban cities of Pakistan, Lahore too is facing
a severe energy crisis.
New Diesel Power Stations prove to be a better
alternative for meeting this energy crisis for more
than a single reason. They are highly efficient
and can be installed and run in a very short
period of time. Hence they are better suited to
cope with severe power outages in a developing
country as ours.

up-to-date software for
the Diesel Power Plants
that provides high
performance and greater
system reliability. Its open
architecture allows easy
implementation of new
stipulations. Through
this project, BU-CIP is
aiming for setting up a
standard for the future
projects of MAN Diesel.

Winning of this
prestigious contract was
not an easy task for the
Business Unit (CIP).
Members of the project
bidding team went
through an immensely
tough competition with
its competitors. Through
its vast project
m a n a g e m e n t
experience, excellence,
in-depth expertise,
negotiation skills, and
most-of-all determination
to be a part of the efforts
in adding up the
megawatts required into
the country, BU-CIP won
the contract.

MAN Diesel SE
successful award of Atlas Project.
based in
Germany and the Pakistani Atlas Group have
concluded a strategic partnership to construct
Diesel Power Plants in Pakistan. The cooperation
covers the development, design,
construction and maintenance
of four turnkey Diesel Power
Plants from 120 to 225 MW in
size, to be completed by 2012.

recently gone into execution is

MW Diesel Power Station in
Lahore, to be situated at Lahore-Sheikhupura
Road. The plant is scheduled to connect to the
public grid in March 2009. Business Unit - Cross
Industry Projects (formerly known as BU-Process
Industries and Water Technologies) has made
strategic inroads in the Diesel Power Sector and
has been awarded a contract for the complete
electrical and control system of the Atlas Power
Plant Project.
Biggest ever Export Order of the IIP
Division
The Atlas Power Project is one of the projects
of its kind since the “Independent Power
Producers” (IPPS) have recently started
investing in diesel power plants in Pakistan.
Moreover, the Atlas Power Plant Project is
also the biggest ever export order of IIP
Division. Another fact that needs to be
mentioned here is that MAN Diesel, world’s
leading provider of large-bore diesel engines
for marine and power plant applications, is
working with Siemens Pakistan for the very
first time. Thus, it won’t be incorrect to say
that this project is a milestone not only in
the history of the BU-CIP itself but also in the
history of Siemens Pakistan. Being a part of
this prestigious project is a source of great
honor, pride and achievement, both for the
Business Unit – Cross Industry Projects and
for Siemens Pakistan at large.
