Highlights of the speech of MD at Annual Conference
v What was
just a dream
when we had
our first annual
conference is
now a reality
and we have
surpassed our
best
expectations.
v This is the best ever year in the
history of Siemens for which the entire
team deserves applause.
v While this is indeed a moment of
rejoicing it is also a moment of
reflection.
v You can see our history through all
the logos that represent our thought
process over the years and guides us
to our future actions that must lead
us to greater heights.
v We must not take it easy but
continue to lead and that can only
come about if we use our values to
sustain our success.
v As you can see there are more values
within this one value and the most
important I think is discipline.
v Without discipline companies no
matter how successful are destined to
fail. We must instill discipline in our
lives and that means following the
rules and respecting procedures.
v Every rule and every procedure is
the result of a well thought out
exercise where value addition and
maximizing of processes is intended
and those that do not follow rules and
discard procedures are undermining
the very foundations of our success.
v Only by following the law and
conducting our business on ethical
lines can we hope to sustain success
otherwise it will flounder on our
misdeeds.
v There are really no short cuts to
sustainable success. It is a path littered
with challenges and only by facing
these challenges squarely and
thrashing the daylights out of
problems that you can hope to
maintain your present success on
permanent footing.
v You are a company that is backed by
a global network of innovation and
that is the third value that drives our
sustainable success.
v You are so fortunate to belong to a
company where the solutions you
offer are limited only by your
imagination.
v Siemens is not just a company it is
practically a universe in itself and if
you really look at it closely you will
find that it is a company that is
mankind’s partner from the cradle to
the grave and even before that.
v I say this because a child will in most
probability be on an ultra sound
machine before it is born and again
on a Siemens machine that will
diagnose illness in the closing years
of his life.
v No other company in the world has
such impact on mankind and you are
part of that company which should
make you proud.
v I know that you are because in the
recent employee feedback survey the
highest rating recorded was pride in
the company.
v Let me draw your attention to the
concept of cross selling which is a vital
tool for our sustainable success.
v There is an African proverb that says
“When spider webs unite they can tie
up a lion.” This is so true for our
business.
v You cannot sustain success if you do
not build people.
v If you mismatch capabilities with
work you will not only ruin your
business but also the future of those
working under you.
v You must remember that you will
not always be around but the business
will be and success should not be
limited to your own tenure but should
sustain well beyond that.
v There is something about which I
have to say something every time. This
is customer focus and the fact that
our salaries and our success depends
upon the satisfaction of our customers
v Our service and attention to
customers not only increases our own
sale but also gives a big boost to cross
selling efforts as satisfied customers
go looking for Siemens products in
every area of their business.
v I wish you the same success each
year which is what sustainable success
is all about.

American SAP User Group
Award for Siemens Pakistan
Siemens Pakistan has been awarded with a certificate of achievement
from American SAP User Group (ASUG) for outstanding SAP
implementation efforts in their project for Ali Gohar Pharmaceuticals
(AGP). AGP project has been completed within timelines and budget
with high customer satisfaction and recognition along with the
achievement of the desired objectives of the project.
The head of business unit, Information Technology Services (ITS),
Mr. Waqas Naved has praised the efforts of the entire team and
specifically that of Mr. Zeeshan Raza Haryani, Project Manager.
This is the second internationally recognized award Siemens Pakistan
has received during this year for SAP.
MD congratulates SAP Team
In a letter of congratulations to Mr. Naved Waqas and
Mr. Irfan Sheikh, the Managing Director, Mr. Sohail Wajahat
H. Siddiqui said “Congratulations for achieving this
wonderful achievement. You and your entire team at
Siemens Pakistan deserve a huge round of applause for
a job well done which made all of us feel proud. Wish you
many more successes in future.”
New year message from MD
Dear readers of SKD I would like
to take this opportunity to wish you
and your families a very happy new
year and health, success and
happiness for 2008 and beyond. As
we start the new year we must
resolve to make the coming year
meaningful in terms of our
performance and results and in terms
of carrying out our business based
on our values. We must have
excellence and innovation and most
of all responsibility. This means doing
clean business every time and
promoting our business on its merit
based on innovation and excellence.
I cannot overemphasize the need for
compliance as that is the basis for
our future success.
As you are aware that vide Z Circular
2/2008 Siemens has initiated an
Amnesty Opportunity (Decision
regarding voluntary employee
reporting of violations of anti-publiccorruption
laws) for the employees
this initiative is fully supported by
Siemens Pakistan Management and
it is emphasized that the circular be
read thoroughly for the details
provided under this amnesty."
This and other steps should be
followed rigorously so that next year
when we are face to face with 2009
we can be proud of our
accomplishments in 2008.
MD receives award for
meritorious services to
Pakistan
Mr. Sohail Wajahat H. Siddiqui, Managing
Director, Siemens (Pakistan) was recognized
for his outstanding and meritorious services
to Pakistan at an impressive ceremony at
Governor’s House, Karachi; attended by the
elite of the city. The certificate that
accompanied this award stated that it was
being given “In recognition of his
outstanding and meritorious services
rendered for the country.”
At the ceremony at Governor House, Karachi,
Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mr. Shoukat Aziz
is giving the award to Mr. Sohail Wajahat H.
Siddiqui while others present on the occasion
include former Prime Minister of Pakistan Ch.
Shujat Hussain, Governor Sindh Dr. Ishrat Ul
Ebad, Federal Minister for Communication Mr.
Babar Ghori and Provincial Minister for
industries Mr. Adil Siddiqui.
Brand of the Year Award
Siemens brand was selected
as the brand of the year and
a model for other brands at
a ceremony in Islamabad.
The Prime Minister of
Pakistan Mr.Shoukat Aziz is
giving the
Brand of
the Year
Award to
Mr.Sohail
Wajahat Siddiqui at a ceremony at Prime
Minister Secretariat in Islamabad.
The award was given in the category of
Transformers. Siemens Pakistan has only
recently celebrated 25 years of
manufacturing of transformers and in this
silver jubilee year inaugurated the new
220kV power transformer factory.
Transformers manufactured locally at the
Siemens industrial complex in SITE are
also exported and form the back bone of
export of engineering goods from
Pakistan.
