Annual Dinner and Awards Ceremony
Siemens Pakistan annual conference
2007was held on 23rd and 24th
November 2007 at Karachi Sheraton
hotel. The theme of the conference
was “Values for sustainable success”.
The phenomenal growth in the
company was reflected in the number
of participants. Eight years ago we
started with a group of less than fifty
people which has now reached a total
of nearly 200 enthusiastic and
motivated delegates. This is inspite
of the fact that selection for
participation is based on very strict
criteria making it a privilege to be
invited to this premier event of the
year. The conference started with the
unveiling of the logo. This was
accomplished through a highly
motivating film that visualized the
values mentioned in the logo of the
conference and then ended with the
logo flashing on the screen. This
charged the audience and they broke
into spontaneous applause that
resonated around the hall.
After the unveiling of the logo Mr.
Gerhard Wilcke gave a presentation on
“values for sustainable success”. This
was followed by the address of the
Managing Director Mr.Sohail Wajahat
H.Siddiqui (Full text on page 43). After
the speech of the MD delegates visited
the swimming pool of the hotel for a
group photograph and came back to
the conference room to witness the
MD and executive directors cut the
cake with the conference logo.
A very interesting workshop based
on the theme of the conference was
conducted by M/S Navitus. This was
divided in two parts. The first part
focused on values and what part
they play and the second session
allowed the delegates to understand
how values can lead to sustainable
success. This brought the working
session of day one to a close. The
same night delegates came back to
the hotel to participate in the
glittering gala dinner and awards
night which is better known as a
night of celebrating excellence.
On the second day the first session
was devoted to presentations. The
first one was from Mr. Sarwar Khan
who gave a presentation on “PTCL
Go live success story” This was
followed by “ Values based success
in IIP” presented by Mr. Aijaz Saleem,
“Values based success in PTD”
presented by Mr. Mohammad Ilyas,
“Value based success in A & D “ by
Mr. Nadeem Kazmi and “Values
based success in MOTAC” by Mr. Syed
Asadullah.
After tea on the second day there
was a workshop on “Success story
Dubai, - a regional success” by
Mr.Irfan Umar and Mr.Kamal Majid.

Mr. Nasim Siddiqui, Mr. Mohammad Ilyas and Mr.

Ceremony were held
in the magnificent
ball room of Karachi
Sheraton hotel.
Attended by all the
delegates of the
annual conference
and invited guests
that included
diplomats, leading
businessmen,
academia, journalists and elite of the city.
This was a dazzling evening celebrating
excellence. The chief guest of the evening
was Mr. Shahid Ahmad, Additional
Secretary Education, Government of
Pakistan, who had flown in especially to
be a part of this important event. The
hall was buzzing with expectation as
company employees waited for the
announcement of Internal Awards
including the top+ awards which are
considered the Oscars in Siemens.
Mr. Shahid Ahmad in his key-note address
informed the audience of the turnaround
achieved by the Government in the
education sector and the number of
scholarships available for talented
students of the country. A career Civil
Servant, Mr. Shahid
Ahmad impressed
the audience with
the results he had
achieved during his
brief stint in the
education sector. He
also lauded Siemens for awarding gold
medals to engineering students from
across the country and for also
recognizing the achievement of Siemens
employees. He said Siemens
has set an example for the
entire corporate sector in
Pakistan.
He congratulated all those
receiving awards and the
young engineering students
receiving gold medals.

medal winners and their
parents and said these
students are the future of
our country. He said these
gold medals are in line with
the global policy of Siemens
reflected in the Siemens
Generation 21 global
education program.

The last session was devoted to
considering recommendations from
the two workshops and outlining a
line of action to implement
recommendations unanimously
agreed upon by the delegates.

After two days of hard deliberations,
moments of motivation and
unparalleled enthusiasm the annual
conference came to a close.
Everyone was greatly appreciative
of the outstanding arrangements
and well knit program that
transformed this conference into one
of the best in memory.
