BBG team, pleased about the new generation <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>tap</strong> hole <strong>drilling</strong> <strong>devices</strong> that combine simple<br />

maintenance with the proven hydraulic counterstrike<br />

technology. Simpler maintenance has also<br />

been made possible through a sophisticated design<br />

feature at the front body. “Here a system was<br />

integrated which enables the simple and quick<br />

exchange <strong>of</strong> worn bushings in the front body – it’s<br />

like exchanging your mobile phone battery. The<br />

advantage <strong>of</strong> this system is the extremely short<br />

downtime during maintenance“, so we are told by<br />

the design department for special construction<br />

about the advantages <strong>of</strong> the new equipment. Our<br />

verdict: Test passed!<br />

In-depth<br />

<strong>HTI</strong> FOR YOU has made a close look at the <strong>tap</strong> hole<br />

<strong>drilling</strong> device. Principally it consists <strong>of</strong> 5 main<br />

parts:<br />

1. Gear: As the “muscleman” the gear moves the<br />

boring bar.<br />

<strong>of</strong> this having been major objectives during design.<br />

“Therefore the protection cover <strong>of</strong> the <strong>tap</strong><br />

hole <strong>drilling</strong> equipment has been completely new<br />

designed. It is now fitted with three doors. Through<br />

these openings it is possible to carry out important<br />

maintenance works and controls directly at<br />

the equipment. “With the previous model the<br />

2. Striking mechanism: The gear gets its boost<br />

from the “brains” <strong>of</strong> the device, the striking mechanism.<br />

Hydraulically driven (with oil) it allows<br />

the strike in both directions – backwards and forwards.<br />

3. Front body: The boring bar is safely rested in<br />

the “best hands”, the front body.<br />

4. Protection cover: As “artificial skin” it protects<br />

the heart <strong>of</strong> the machine, consisting <strong>of</strong> gear,<br />

striking mechanism and front body.<br />

5. Boring bar with bore bit: As “extended arm” the<br />

boring bar is the performing part and drills the<br />

hole with the bore bit.<br />
