For HTI one objective is always in the center of
attention, namely the creation of values: for our
customers, for our shareholders, for our employees
and also for society in general. Evidently this
requires continuous further development of our
products. Based on the requests and demands of
our customer we have further developed our innovative
products, thanks to which the production
processes run now smoothly, reliable, cost-, timeand
material efficient. How this works in reality,
we will tell you in the report about our new tap hole
drilling devices, which were presented to the audience
at the “Metec” and will be introduced to the
market in autumn as well as in the report about
our Open-House-Days, in the course of which our
new extrusion line OMNIA was presented for the
first time in operation, where it also passed all
practical tests. Our division Aircraft has proved its
capabilities – more than that, they were awarded
for their exceptional commitment by FACC with the
“Excellent Supplier Award”. Also we report on an
excellent ascent for our share – since May 23 it is
listed in the prime market, the premium segment
of the Vienna Stock Exchange.
Dear readers, all these achievements would not
have been possible without the great commitment
and the manifold know-how of our employees.
Therefore, we would like to thank you, dear HTI
employees! And: We would like to sincerely invite
you to once again participate in our HTI-Award, in
„Wherever your company goes,
we will follow.”
Wensan Guo, Chairman of the Management Board of Conch
After a four-day business trip, leading me to China,
to our Joint-Venture-Partner, the world wide largest
window profile producer Conch, I am currently
on the plane back to Austria. It is July 09, 2011
and I had spent three days in a country, where the
annual economic growth is about 10 percent,
skyscrapers spring up like mushrooms and cities
develop so fast, that maps have to be reworked on
an annual basis. The one shadow on all this is the
ecological price China has to pay, since the destruction
of the environment is reality to the same
extent. The stunning economic growth with high
energy consumption and great pollution has far
reaching consequences: From energy questions
via health hazards towards safeguarding of food
supply.
Peter Glatzmeier
Chairman of the Management Board
China is aware of the fact that the environmental
problem will in the long run dampen the future
chances of the country and hence more and more
focuses on quality and not only quantity. The new
five-year-plan of the Chinese government that was
approved upon in March, focuses on a historic
restructuring of China’s economy and amongst
other foresees a development towards ‘green’
economy. More than that, China wants to slow
down its economic growth to only seven percent
per year within the next five years. This way, as well
as through investments in necessary technologies
for cleaner energies fewer raw materials shall be
consumed and excessive pollution shall be avoided.
This development offers also new possibilities
for the industrial countries of the west. After all, if
China works on more environmental friendliness,
more technological know-how will have to be imported
to the country. Here, also HTI sees some
chances in order to grow jointly with the Chinese
market. Hence we are planning to use our existing
Joint-Venture in China, in order to extend the product
portfolio in cooperation with Conch and to
extend our market position in China. For almost
20 years we have been exclusive partners for
Conch for extrusion equipment, and HTI has to
offer many more innovative technological solutions,
becoming more and more interesting for
China. “Wherever your company goes, we will
follow”, answered Mister Guo, after I had introduced
our technological group and told him about
our plans. “Thank you for coming. I am looking
forward to seeing you soon”, he said by the time
we had to say goodbye – I do look forward to my
next trip to China!
Dear readers, these developments as well as our
current order situation give me great trust in the
future of our technological group and encourage
me to keep going the already chosen way. Also
China has now recognized the necessity to create
“values with future”. It is no more about “more of
the same” and “growth at any price”, but it is about
creating products in harmony with the aspects
ecology, economy and ergonomics. Technology in
future will be measured by how it is contributing
toward adding more meaning to these aspects in
all our products.
With these thoughts from my business trip to China
I may thank you, dear HTI employees, for your
passion and please let me combine this thank you
with the appeal to ask you to keep working as
passionate as always for our customers and hence
our company’s success. You, dear business partners
and shareholders, I would like to thank you
very much for accompanying us on the way to a
successful future.
Peter Glatzmeier

Tap hole drilling device in action
The tap hole drilling equipment, developed by the
new research- and development company TMTborn
to drill
The tap hole drilling devices of TMT-BBG have got quite a substantial share of the
world market. In order to safeguard and extend this lead, the research and development
company TMT-BBG developed a new generation of tap hole drilling devices.
The almost one year ago founded TMT-BBG Research
& Development GmbH has already achieved
the first promising results. Beginning of July
the company presented their new generation of
tap hole drilling devices at the Metec, the international
show for metallurgy, steel casting and
steel production in Düsseldorf beginning of July.
The new equipment will be introduced to the
market in autumn this year.
Three birds
with one stone
BBG, produced by BBG in Kapfenberg are used
within the pig iron- and steel industry. Iron ore is
melted in furnaces to become pig iron, which
needs to be extracted from the furnaces quickly
and safely. Here the tap hole drilling equipment
is used: It precisely drills the so-called tap hole
- which is closed during the melting process by
means of plugging material – so that the hot, liquid
pig iron can flow out. The whole extraction
process is called the tapping process. All permanently
in use furnaces have to be emptied in regular
intervals – approximately every two hours.
This process is very intensive, since the machine
has to drill the two to four meter long tap hole –
depending on the wall thickness of the furnace.

The tap hole itself is only 45 – 60 mm in diameter.
State-of-the-art equipment manages the drill in
only one to three minutes. Additional the tap hole
drilling devices have to be extremely heat proof
in order to withstand the heat of the furnace of
approximately 800°C.
The special feature of the TMT-BBG tap hole
drilling devices is that they can manage three
things in one go: During the so-called rotary
drilling the boring bar is not only going into the
furnace (like a drilling machine goes inside the
wall) but it is simultaneously going backwards
and forwards with one flap motion. With this
unique retaliation technology, combining the forward-
and backstroke function in one machine,
BBG has established an excellent world market
position for itself. This equipment makes the use
of further machines – without backstroke function
(i.e. in opposite direction) an additional striking
mechanism would be necessary, in order to retract
the boring bar from the tap hole of the furnace.
More than that, with this equipment the
factors time efficiency and ergonomics are of
utmost importance.
The whole life
low in maintenance
Already the previous generation of tap hole drilling
devices was characterized by being able to
open the tap hole with low strike energy, but high
impact rate. Hence, the life-time of the tap hole
itself was consequently extended. Based on the
customer’s demand, to create the existing equipment
much easier regarding maintenance as well
as extending the life-time of wear parts, TMT-
BBG has now developed the latest generation of
tap hole drilling devices. The new models HS 581
and HS 583 (the previous models were HS 571 and
HS 573) will be available in autumn 2011. The
development of two different models is required
by the variety of furnaces, all with specific characteristics.
Easy maintenance for example is achieved
through simpler handling: Whereas with the previous
models mostly the whole machine had to
be dismantled for maintenance, now the various
works can be done directly and the installed devices.
For this purpose amongst others the new
protection cover was developed, which has got
individual doors directly at the crucial places of
the device. This comfortable access shortens
service time substantially. More than that, additional
functions were integrated, which increase
the life-time of wear parts.
Also existing customers benefit from these novelties.
Those, who already have the previous
models, are offered an update by TMT-BBG:
Users of the HS 571 can update to HS 581 resp.
HS 573 to HS 583.
Better safe than sorry …
… is the motto of the daily work life at BBG. Therefore,
each product that is manufactured by BBG
is examined towards it fulfilling the defined requirements.
In order to provide this evidence, all
BBG products are subjected to an individual testing
process. HTI FOR YOU participated in one of
those many tests, who were done at the test
bench of TMT-BBG – a drilling test with the new
tap hole drilling device HS 581. “We are currently
testing the resilience of the new tap hole drilling
device, in order to extend the life-time of wear
parts and consequently to cut the costs for our
customers“, explains design manager Werner
Schantl, who put his 40 years of experience into
the design of the new tap hole drilling device. Also
the improved seals in the gear increase the lifetime
of the wear parts and provide protection of
external influences. The execution of maintenance
works is not only to be done in longer intervals
but also quicker and more ergonomic, all
The TMT-BBG team involved in the development of the new tap
hole drilling device: Oskar Kortan, Stefan Kaindlbauer, Andreas
Breidler, Romain Clesen, Frank Helsper, Werner Schantl, Michael
whole protection cover had to be dismantled for
maintenance”, say Werner Schantl and the TMT-
BBG team, pleased about the new generation of
tap hole drilling devices that combine simple
maintenance with the proven hydraulic counterstrike
technology. Simpler maintenance has also
been made possible through a sophisticated design
feature at the front body. “Here a system was
integrated which enables the simple and quick
exchange of worn bushings in the front body – it’s
like exchanging your mobile phone battery. The
advantage of this system is the extremely short
downtime during maintenance“, so we are told by
the design department for special construction
about the advantages of the new equipment. Our
verdict: Test passed!
In-depth
HTI FOR YOU has made a close look at the tap hole
drilling device. Principally it consists of 5 main
parts:
1. Gear: As the “muscleman” the gear moves the
boring bar.
of this having been major objectives during design.
“Therefore the protection cover of the tap
hole drilling equipment has been completely new
designed. It is now fitted with three doors. Through
these openings it is possible to carry out important
maintenance works and controls directly at
the equipment. “With the previous model the
3 Schematic illustration of a tap hole drilling device
2
2. Striking mechanism: The gear gets its boost
from the “brains” of the device, the striking mechanism.
Hydraulically driven (with oil) it allows
the strike in both directions – backwards and forwards.
3. Front body: The boring bar is safely rested in
the “best hands”, the front body.
4. Protection cover: As “artificial skin” it protects
the heart of the machine, consisting of gear,
striking mechanism and front body.
5. Boring bar with bore bit: As “extended arm” the
boring bar is the performing part and drills the
hole with the bore bit.
HTI FOR YOU: Mister Meisch, TMT has been
developing special products for the pig iron- and
steel industry for more than 100 years. In what way
have the demands of your customers changed over
time?
Mr. Meisch: Due to the increasing competition in the
pig iron production today many furnaces are
operated at their performance limit. This requires
the use of reliable technology as well as increased
process monitoring, which was not really a topic ten
years ago. Beyond that, the dimensions of new
furnaces are increasing in average, so that the
demands towards performance make the requirements
of our tap hole drilling devices become
higher and higher.
HTI FOR YOU: What does that development mean
for your products?
Mr. Meisch: The growing demands of our customers
of course require the continuous further development
of the TMT product portfolio. This development
however is not limited to mechanical engineering
anymore, but also increasingly concerns
electric and hydraulic control concepts as well as
the integration of tap hole machines into the
furnace process.
HTI FOR YOU: In cooperation with your partner
BBG you call yourself the technological leader in
the field of tap hole technology – what in your
opinion did you make better than others?
Mr. Meisch: We acknowledged the importance of an
intensive cooperation for the development of tap
hole machines and drilling devices and in BBG we
found a partner who supported us as best as
possible in our research & development activities.
With the foundation of TMT & BBG Research and
Development GmbH last year we created the
necessary structure in order to optimally use
development capacities in the tap hole industry.
HTI FOR YOU: How can your products support a
company in its further development?
Mr. Meisch: Our products provide furnace users
with the necessary support, for example, in regards
to capacity increases or safety furnace operation.
More than that, many of our customers benefit from
the flexibility of our equipment in order to implement
an optimization of the tap hole process. The
auto operation function of the TMT tap hole
machines is a further example for the vast room for
further development of our customers‘ processes.
HTI FOR YOU: Eco-friendliness and energy
efficiency are essential factors for your company –
how do these factors work influence the development
of tap hole drilling devices?
enquired
HTI FOR YOU talked to Mister Claude Meisch, proxy and development
manager of TMT-BBG Research & Development, about customer
demands, market- and technological leadership as well as about the
tap hole drilling device of the future:
Mr. Meisch: Eco-friendliness and energy efficiency
are two important aspects which we consider
during development of new machines. The further
development of our tamping machines for the use
of new, eco-friendly tap hole tamping material is a
very good example. Optimal use of energy is
generally given with all of our products due the high
technological level. However, this does not keep us
from continuously improving energy efficiency
through intelligent selection of drive components as
well as through optimized control.
HTI FOR YOU: What is the market share for you
and BBG for tap hole drilling devices?
Mr. Meisch: The TMT market share for tap hole
devices depends on the furnace size. Basically our
market share increases, the higher the daily
production of the furnace is, since here the
reliability has an enormous impact on production
efficiency. In short, it can be said that currently we
are market- and technology leader in the field of
tap hole devices.
HTI FOR YOU: How do you visualize the tap hole
device of the future?
Mr. Meisch: High performance, safe, reliable,
automated and highly durable. We are not only
working on the further development of our existing
product range in the tap hole but also we focus on
alternative concepts for the tap hole device of the
future. Due to patents pending I cannot give you any
further information on this topic.
HTI FOR YOU: How do you rate the development of
the pig iron- and steel industry for the next five
years?
Mr. Meisch: Independent of any crises Asia and
South America will remain the growth motors for
the next years for the pig iron- and steel industry.
The global production will keep increasing however
we do not expect a repetition of the order peaks of
the last boom. The increase in production will still
be characterized by substantial regional differences.
HTI FOR YOU: Mister Meisch, I thank you for the
interview and wish you a lot of success with your
future plans!
Claude Meisch

HTI for you | Summer 2011
With lightness to
Major success
Our division Aircraft is currently on high-fly, since
they were presented with an award just recently.
For their extraordinary efforts and their exemplary
performance FACC AG awarded our center of
competency for aircraft lightweight components with
the “Excellent Supplier Award 2010” in bronze.
Happy faces at the handover ceremony of the
Excellent Supplier Awards of FACC AG. Our division
Aircraft received an honorable award from
FACC, one of the worldwide leading companies in
the development and production of fiber composite
components and –systems for the aviation
industry: The Supplier Award 2010 in bronze.
Worldwide, FACC counts on first-class partners.
Trusting in the fact that only exemplary cooperation
with high performance suppliers results in
an outstanding and long lasting contribution to
economic success, the company awards their best
suppliers for their outstanding performance. Also
in the year 2010 FACC has once again awarded
“their best” with the „Excellent Supplier Award
2010“ in gold, silver and bronze as well as the
“Special Performance Award“.
On the occasion of the award ceremony FACC held
an “Innviertel Afternoon” mid of May, in the
course of which the joint visit of the baroque city
of Schärding and the visit of the dignified monastery
Engelszell were on the agenda.
That’s what
winners look like
„Excellent Supplier Award 2010“ in bronze for HTP
FACC follows special criteria while selecting the
nominees for the “Excellent Supplier Award“.
First and foremost focus is set on the receipt of
top quality of the delivered products as well as
reliability in regards to delivery terms and the
smooth flow during further processing and –shipment.
Additionally the assessment of the suppliers
includes criteria like customer service,
flexibility, cooperation – and finally also the willingness
to jointly agree upon measures for cost
effectiveness and process optimization, to accept

and implement them. FACC has nominated HTP
Aircraft for the first time for the Supplier Award
in the year 2010: Reason for this was the fact that
HTP Aircraft showed a lot of improvement and
that the cooperation with FACC reached new
heights as a result.
It’s all a matter
of lightness
For FACC HTP Aircraft produces component
groups and interior parts for business jet OEMs
– original equipment manufacturers – like for
example Bombardier and Embraer. Amongst
others both companies jointly work on the Challenger
300 by Bombadier as well as on the Phenom
300 by Embraer. The latter is currently on
high-fly when it comes to quantity. Embraer is
now planning on introducing the Legacy 450 and
the Legacy 500 new to the market. Here the focus
is set once again on HTP Aircraft, who will care
for the necessary transparency by means of their
window component groups. Since the development,
production and assembly of window component
group – for business jets as well as jumbo
jets – is one for the most important
2
core competencies of HTP Aircraft. The
fact that our division Aircraft is a high
performer in the field of lightweight is
proven with great success during the
past years – and also for the future substantial
enhancements in this area are planned.
Looking forward
Thanks to this positive development the cooperation
between HTP Aircraft and FACC, in terms of
joint OEM projects reached new heights. To the
same extent also the revenues in the spare parts
business increased substantially, compared to
last year’s figures. With the increasing number of
projects and deliveries also the said improvements
were more and more portrayed, which in
return once again had a very positive impact on
customer satisfaction. This now serves as basis,
to extend the further cooperation for new projects,
like for example development projects and
component groups for FACC’s scope of delivery
for the A350 XWB.
Showtime for our
profile extrusion
The Open-House-Days in Micheldorf on May 04 and 05 attracted quite an
audience. More than 100 visitors followed the impressive demonstrations of
the new extrusion line OMNIA in action with tension and excitement.
Everything in connection with profile extrusion
was on offer at the in-house show of High Tech
Extrusion, which was held in Micheldorf on May
04 and 05. The invitation was followed by more
than 100 visitors from various continents. The
informative program, which was opened by HTI
CEO Peter Glatzmeier and High Tech Extrusion
manager Xaver Gruber, who welcomed the guests,
contained speeches and demonstrations of efficient
solutions and ground-breaking innovations in
the field of profile extrusion.
Economical, more
economical, OMNIA
The star of this year’s in-house show was naturally
the parallel twin screw extrusion line OMNIA.
Just as how energy efficient this extrusion allrounder
really is, was demonstrated on site to the
large number of interested customers. Mister
Gehring/SKZ Kunststoff Zentrum Würzburg carried
out a direct energy measurement and was
hence able to prove the advertised energy savings
to be true quite clearly.
Quick, quicker, OMNIA tool
quick change system
The visitors took the opportunity, to have the
advantages of this reliable, efficient and productive
extrusion line shown to them. Of special interest
was especially the quick change system for
profile tools. Since, for customers it is essential,
that the various tools, which give the raw material
the requested shape (for example window
profiles in the most different shapes), can be
changed quickly. Thus, expensive down times can
be avoided. To which extent time is actually saved
by OMNIA during production, was impressively
proven by the High Tech Extrusion in the course
of the held “trial run”.
Learn and Eat
The in-house show of High Tech Extrusion contained
also interesting speeches in German and
English language about nearly everything in connection
with PVC profiles. As external speakers
Mr. Egger/Chemson, who talked about modern
stabilisation systems as well as Mr. Kleinschitz/
SKZ, who talked about the examination of window
profiles, were managed to be gained. The successful
first day was topped off by a very entertaining
dinner event at the Landhotel Schicklberg,
where besides a first-class dinner the “Chaos
Kellner Show” a really entertaining menu theatre
impressed the guests.
Immediate Success
The technical perfection, combined with functionality
and ergonomic design – short OMNIA – generated
great interest, like it did already at the K
2010. “The Open-House-Days lay the foundations
for the conclusion of orders worth millions” says
a pleased Xaver Gruber about the Open-House-
Days and titles them as “a well organized and
successful event”.

HTI FOR YOU: Mr. Sandberg, what did you
expect from the Open-House-Days of High
Tech Extrusion?
Mr. Sandberg:I knew a lot of what to expect as
we had been talking to High Tech Extrusion on
projects prior to the Open House, therefore I
expected to see a supplier who had taken major
leaps forward in customer focus, and I wasn’t
disappointed.
HTI FOR YOU: What did impress you the most?
Mr. Sandberg: Most impressive has been the
change in emphasis of an extrusions supplier.
The shift in emphasis from selling the biggest
output machine, to one that reduces scrap/
downtime, aids production to perform is a
massive USP compared to your competitors.
It’s generally a battle on the specification of a
project to get items required to make things
better at the factory, here, it’s your USP and
you’re pushing us to be a more efficient manufacturer.
HTI FOR YOU: High Tech Extrusion presented
the OMNIA calibration table, which consumes
extraordinarily little energy. Is energy consumption
an issue within your company?
Mr. Sandberg: Energy consumption is an issue
always, scrap is a large cost driver though. The
other major advantage I thought of the new
system is noise reduction. The more people on
the shop floor can think clearly, and hear their
colleagues, the better they will perform. The
format of our calibration tables however, makes
it hard to justify the new system. High Tech
Extrusion needs to get creative in the different
ways it can offer the solution, and not just rely
on it being built into the table.
1
One of the visitors was Tim Sandberg, Business Improvement
Manager (extrusions) at dhm Plastics Ltd – a company of the
Aliaxis Group, belonging to the world’s largest extrusion groups.
HTI FOR YOU talked to Mr. Tim Sandberg about the show:
HTI FOR YOU: Many profile extruders still use a
saw. High Tech Extrusion presented the new
OMNIA guillotine. What in your opinion are the
advantages of this guillotine?
Mr. Sandberg: The advantages are obvious – no
“cut scrap” for the width of the blade, so
material saving, low noise, no dust or extraction
units to maintain. The only issue from our
perspective is can we cut every shape as we
don’t have window profiles to cut, but long
periphery products with thin wall thicknesses.
HTI FOR YOU: During the Open-House-Days
also the new OMNIA quick tool changing system
was demonstrated. How much time could be
saved in your company, would this system be
in use?
Mr. Sandberg: The tool changing system was
impressive, the other advantage is reduced
mistakes which I think probably will save more
money and time, than the reduced downtime for
changing a tool over. However, we are being
forced into shorter and shorter run lengths, so
quick changeover becomes more and more a
criteria we need to be competitive on, or we will
end up with more changeover time than we have
running time.
HTI FOR YOU: What in your opinion defines the
extrusion line of the future?
Mr. Sandberg: Easier and cleaner operation,
reduced scrap, reduced breakdown and more
flexible!
enquired
Tim Sandberg
HTI FOR YOU: Mister Sandberg, thank you very
much for the interview and your visit to our
Open-House-Days!
Uninterrupted passion
for the company
On July 31, 2011 Hermann Gatterbauer, manager of the HTI
Group company Hitzinger, celebrated his unbelievable 50 th
service anniversary. Since his first working day as an apprentice
in summer 1961 the trained electrical engineer has
stayed true to his company. HTI FOR YOU talked to him and
learned a lot about his apprentice- and work years, his
understanding of success and his objectives in the future:
“Training for the brain and
the heart” is the successful
recipe for a meaningful and
ambitioned work life. He
has got to know – since he
is a very good example – equally for humane and
cooperative acting. For more than 50 years today’s
manager for marketing and sales has been active,
providing all his sales’ talent, his managerial
qualities and his profound product knowledge of
everything in connection with “power at the right
moment”. But this is by far not all.
With his authentic way he has been involving
himself in numerous company-internal activities
from the beginning on. He also cares for the
personal contact with all people in his daily environment
and more than that, he also goes hiking
with his customers. Hermann Gatterbauer looks
back on 50 years of his passionate involvement in
the growth and wellbeing of Hitzinger. And despite
his great successes for Hitzinger he always
stayed firmly on the ground.
His CV is like taken from a picture book: It tells a
story of Hermann Gatterbauer, who started working
with Hitzinger at the age of only 14, as an
apprentice for electrical engineering, on July 31,
1961. 1965 he finished his final exams and continued
working for a few years in various positions
in the company. Already at this early stage the
sales managers at that time has had his eye on
him, since he appeared to be ideal for the sales
department. The fact that both gentlemen had
very good intuition was proven by Hermann Gatterbauer
during his years in the sales department,
especially since 1993, when he - in cooperation
with two colleagues -transformed the
company and led it to success within only a few
years. In the year 2008 he and his partners sold
their shares in the company to HTI High Tech
Industries AG and Hermann Gatterbauer has been
serving as manager for marketing and sales every
since.
50 years Hitzinger – uninterrupted passion for the
company – from apprentice to owner and manager.
How does Hermann Gatterbauer, appreciated
by both colleagues and customers for this expertise
and humanity, value his life with Hitzinger
from his point of view? This and much more we
were told during a personal interview ...

HTI FOR YOU: Mister Gatterbauer, you have been
working for Hitzinger for the past 50 years in various
positions. What was your dream profession in
your childhood?
Mr. Gatterbauer: My favorite profession as a
child was train driver, since in my early years my
family lived right alongside VOEST and their
train terminal.
HTI FOR YOU: Do you still remember your first
day as an apprentice with Hitzinger?
Herr Gatterbauer: Yes, I do remember it very
well! On July 31, 1961 we were in the yard of
Hitzinger at 7.00 hrs in the morning. We – that
were 13 apprentices. Then came the foreman:
Mr. Zeindlhofer was responsible for the electrics
and Mr. Pfistermüller for mechanics. Mr.
Zeindlhofer was in charge of the apprentices –
we all were intended for the electrical engineer
apprenticeship. I spent my first day in the
winding room at plant II, where we were assigned
to a journeyman after a short „safety- and
manners introduction“. I ended up with Mr. Fritz
at the alternator testing bench and had to bring
electric switches to the test bench and after
testing take them away again. In the afternoon,
at 15.00 hrs, we were told to sweep up and clean
the workplaces. In the evening that day I was
really exhausted and I said to myself: You’ve got
to get through this – it will get more interesting.
I got my first salary at the end of the day in a
paper bag. It was 7.15 Schillings, since I had
begun work the last day of the month.
HTI FOR YOU: What were the milestones of your
career and what do you consider to be your
greatest personal success?
Mr. Gatterbauer: After my apprentice- and
journeyman time I was assigned to the sales
department in 1970 and became the deputy
sales manager in 1975. 1980 the company
granted my power of attorney, 1981 I became
manager of the Vienna office and from 1984 on I
was the team leader for the sales area aggregates
and equipment as well as alternators and
transformers.
My greatest personal success was the takeover
of the bankrupt Hitzinger with all employees in
the year 1993, which we jointly led to success.
HTI FOR YOU: What do you think excels yourself
in your work life?
Mr. Gatterbauer: I think that I excel myself
through honesty, openness and ambition, as
well as through the humane and open communication
with employees, customers and friends.
As salesman, manager and partner I always try
to gain my customer’s trust through competency.
On the other hand, also openness and a
partnership approach towards the acting
persons. Of course, also a good product and a
working organization are important factors for
success. As boss I find it important that my staff
considers the humane communication as top
priority, which means full trust and collegiality:
expertise, appearance and the talent to be in
sales in combination with honesty.
HTI FOR YOU: What are your next big targets?
Mr. Gatterbauer: I would like to spend the
remaining years of my life with my wife, who has
blessed me with 50 years of understanding for
my professional life and with my family including
my grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
HTI FOR YOU: Which dream would you like to
come true?
Mr. Gatterbauer: Travelling! For the next years
we are planning some cruises and we also
would like to visit the Arab Emirates.
HTI FOR YOU: When you welcome an apprentice
on his first day, what do you wish him?
Mr. Gatterbauer: Personally, I wish him success
which he can achieve with honesty, team spirit
and collegiality. During the past years I was
responsible for hiring staff. I would recommend
to an apprentice to also complete an additional
secondary education besides the practical
professional training. Especially languages are
important – English is necessary but also an
Eastern language can only be of advantage.
Fundamentally important however is the
successful passing of the final exams of the apprenticeship
so that the apprentices can use the
manifold possibilities for further education.
HTI FOR YOU: Mister Gatterbauer, thank you
very much for the interview and all the best for
the future.
Master of
flexibility
They are always at the right spot, wherever needed: Founded only one year ago,
HTI Personalmanagement GmbH now employs around 90 members of staff
that integrate their expertise right there, where it is needed.
Karlheinz Wintersberger
Today’s economy keeps asking for more and
more flexible solutions. One of the right answers
to this is called HTI Personalmanagement GmbH
(HTI PM), proven by the number of
staff on the payroll. Within only one
year HTI PM employs ten male and
eight female employees as well as 61
male and 10 female workers. The majority
works for the HTI Group company
Gruber & Kaja, approx. 5 % work
for HTI High Tech Industries AG.
Chameleon within the
working environment
“Companies today require work contract
that allow them to quickly react
to order peaks, for example through
temporary workforce deployments from one
Group company to the other. HTI PM makes a
substantial contribution to mastering the increasing
demand for flexibility due to the volatility of
the markets and the increasing competition
through globalization”, comments HTI COO Karlheinz
Wintersberger on the demands to today’s
work environment. Hence, the highly flexible staff
of HTI PM alternate from one company to the
other resp. from one department to the other,
avoiding unnecessary bureaucratic hurdles. Especially
flexible employees are offered the possibility
to alternate between companies, far away
from each other, thus providing them with longlasting
job security.
“Generally the HTI PM employees are willing to
adjust to new working environments and –loca-

tions”, says a pleased Karlheinz Wintersberger,
since “now an exchange between locations and
departments can now be done quickly and without
any problems”.
Bonus Point:
Professional Experience
Working for HTI PM is not only most diversified
but has also a positive impact on the CV of the
employees. Over time employees and workers of
HTI PM collect the most different experiences in
the various Group companies. In the course of
time the workforce of HTI PM collect the most
different experiences – i.e. the members of staff
keep developing on a constant level, by working
with new working techniques and processes and
also the inside information about the company
culture, the required work performance and the
ability to get to know the colleagues on site.
With increasing experience also the training times
in the various work environments get shorter,
hence the HTI PM employees contributing more
and more towards increasing productivity in the
various companies.
Stepping stone to
become permanent staff
The cooperation with HTI PM is self understandingly
oriented towards long-term cooperation.
Still sometimes the employees want to be taken
over by one of the operative companies of the
Group. This is also possible.
With working for HTI PM the first step for working
for one of the operative companies is done. HTI
PM employees, working for individual companies
are evaluated in regular intervals in regards to
their performance. If the respective employee
shows interest in the company they work for,
nothing will prevent them from being taken over
when the next job becomes available, positive
evaluation provided.
Focus Human Being
This appreciation of the employees shall also be
visualized. Hence, the word- and trade mark, in
style of the HTI logo was created – with a stylized
human being in the center. The color red symbolizes
strength, energy and passion and hence
stresses the great commitment and manifold
expertise of our employees.
In order to provide the HTI PM employees with a
good basis for a possible take-over to become
permanent staff and to support their determination,
HTI focuses on equal treatment – so that the
masters of flexibility are being rewarded for their
persistence and determination to the same extent
as permanent staff.

Prime time for the HTI share
Fresh upwind for our share: As of May 23 the HTI share ascended to the prime
market, the premium segment of the Vienna Stock Exchange and is hence
continuously traded. In order to increase the attractiveness of the HTI share,
CEO Peter Glatzmeier started his road show tour already the next day and
introduced the HTI share to an interested investor audience.
1
May 24
Börse-Express Roadshow
Already the next day after ascending to the prime
market Peter Glatzmeier presented HTI in the
course of the “Aktienforum” and “Börse-Express”,
this time at the Polytec headquarters in Hörsching/Linz.
Besides HTI and Polytec also AT&S,
Palfinger and THI were present.
1 Peter Glatzmeier
during his presentation
Peter Glatzmeier was confident, that ‘an investment
the HTI share has become more attractive
through the ascent to the prime market, both for
private as well for institutional investors‘. Glatzmeier
was also satisfied with the development
during the first quarter 2011. Within the first three
months of the current business year the company
has generated a positive period result after the
economic crisis: Compared to the same period
last year HTI generated an increase in revenues
of 10.5% to 52.9 million EUR and a positive period
result of 0.8 million EUR. Hence the period result

2 3
of the first quarter 2011 increased by 2.5 million
Euro compared to the first quarter last year.
“We have adjusted ourselves in all areas to the
market conditions and now dispose of a structure
that enables us to generate substantial growth
with positive development of earnings under the
given economic frame conditions”, says Glatzmeier,
who expects “an increase in revenues of
around 10%”.
June 16
Austrian Small Cap Day
On June 16 a total of thirteen companies, listed
at the Vienna Stock Exchange resp. at the Budapest
Stock Exchange, took the opportunity to introduce
their company in the course of the “Austrian
Small Cap Day” to a specialist audience of
investors and analysts. Last year’s Austrian Small
Cap Day was still reeling from the economic crisis,
this year the presentations focused on future
growth, innovations and investments as well as
on objectives and strategies.
Peter Glatzmeier presented the audience with an
update about the development of HTI, which
shows a clear increase in business activity in
annual comparison. Despite very good utilization
the technological group has not yet reached all
of its targets. Thus Peter Glatzmeier looked to the
future, especially to the year 2015. From this year
on the company shall generate revenues of 300
million Euro with appropriate profitability.
Geographically not least China is the center of
Glatzmeier’s attention. There, HTI plans to “use
the existing Joint Venture
through the extension
of new product
fields, in order to widen
the market position in
China in cooperation
with the local partner”,
says the CEO. This development shall be boosted
by the new 5-year-plan of the Chinese Government,
including amongst others the construction
of many residential homes, airports etc. Here for
example, a lot of window profiles would be in
demand ...
Further road shows were done by HTI in the
course of the capital increase, implemented in
June. Issued were 6,039 million new shares at a
fix issuing price of EUR 1.10. Peter Glatzmeier
and Nikolaus Kretz were able to place all shares
successfully – more than that, the capital increase
was over-subscribed with 26%. Almost half
of the new shares were subscribed by existing
shareholders by exercising their subscription
rights, the remaining ones were subscribed by
new – mostly domestic – private investors. “The
success of our capital increase despite a presently
very volatile stock market environment is
a very important proof of trust of the investors in
our technological group”, says HTI CFO Nikolaus
Kretz.
Your creativity is in demand!
After the great success of our photo award – once
again a big Thank You for all entries – the HTI
award enters round two. This time the challenge is
not to take a photo but to design creatively.
A pneumatic hammer made of paper-maché, a
crank case made of cast, the twin screws of the
new OMNIA as shining aluminum sculpture or a
collage made of screws and wires – the HTI artaward
2011 sets no boundaries to the creative
ideas of our employees! The only condition is that
the motive or the used materials, serving as source
of inspiration, have to be a HTI product. Design,
material, size, shape and color are totally unlimited
– up to your own creation and artistic sensitivity!
Take on the challenge and become a creative HTI
artist! All our employees are sincerely invited to
participate in the HTI award! Whether you do it by

yourself or with colleagues or even with the whole
department is your choice! The main thing is
the creation of a HTI artwork and the fact that you
take fun and joy in the creation process. Just let
your ideas flow!
Regarding the costs of the materials used for the
project – may it be a sculpture of wires, a cast
figure, a creation of paper-maché or clay – please
do talk to your superior, who will certainly support
your participation in the HTI art award!
The top three creations of all entries received will
