Travelling to and from school
Students are reminded that they should travel directly between school and home both on the way to and from school each day.
Delays in arriving home can cause some anxious moments for parents.
Students are reminded of personal safety strategies including walking home in pairs, not talking to strangers and telling a trusted
adult if they are approached or feel unsafe.
Older students are asked to care for younger siblings if required.
Furthermore, students are representing themselves and the school when travelling to and from school and are expected to behave
appropriately.
Valuables at School
Parents are reminded that valuable items are best left at home. What is valuable will vary from child to child, but if loss or damage
will cause distress to the child, the safety of the home is the best place for the item. If a child wishes to bring something special to
school for show and tell, please ask the classroom teacher if it can be kept in the room for the day, or alternatively the parent can
remain and take the valuable item home with them.

Years 5 & 6 at Camp Rumbug
Camp Rumbug was a fantastic experience for all of grade 5-6. We arrived on
Tuesday 11 th of June and that was the Day everyone made new friends. Before we
reached the campsite we stopped off for lunch at the park, and of course it started
to rain with everyone on the play equipment. Everyone went into a frantic rush to
get back on the bus and then we were on the road again.
About an hour later Camp Rumbug loomed before our eyes. Everyone cheered.
We started on our first activity as soon as we were settled, the Fun and Fitness trail,
where everyone was drenched from head to toe with water from Mr Purcell.
After showers everyone had a good first night sleep.
In the morning we had Bacon and Eggs for breakfast (delicious!)
Our groups rotated through all 8 activities throughout the day.
Everyone got muddy or wet from at least one activity.
We had dinner and then started off for the
night walk down to where the campfire was. We cooked
Marshmallows, told jokes and warmed up
by the fire. It was -2 degrees outside.
The next day it was pouring rain so we had a Tabloid Sports
competition.
Finally it was time to get ready for skit night. We had dinner when
everyone was ready and then the show began. There were about 15 or 16
acts to entertain the judges (the parent helpers). After lots of scoring the
winner was announced. Alayna and I were the winners of our skit night.
We sung “Someone Like You” while Alayna played guitar. Our prize was 5
mini chocolate bars each. Second place was awarded to a play called “The
Rapper of Oz”. Third was a draw between a play called “The Silly Patient”
and a magic show.
Dion B 6P
A big thank you to the parents Daniella Buchanan, Peta Maples, Andrew White
and Kevin Rudge and Staff Mary Bingham, Leah Baensch, Sarah Tucker, Greg
Purcell and Iain Sparrey for giving of their time and their efforts to make the
camp a wonderful experience for our Year 5 and 6 students.

As you read this Extend Director, Darren Stevenson will be getting ready to join CEO’s around the country to brave the winter
weather in a bid to raise awareness of homelessness. He will be armed with only a beanie, a sleeping bag, a sheet of cardboard,
soup, bread roll and a hot drink as he gets to experience what more than 100,000 Australians are faced with every night of the
year. Over 34,000 children are homeless every night.
So please think about digging deep and remember every dollar counts in helping Vinnie’s ongoing provision of support to homeless
