Reagent strip test<strong>in</strong>g was <strong>the</strong> ma<strong>in</strong> method documented. In many cases, <strong>the</strong>re was no documentation of<br />

<strong>the</strong> method used (table 12.8). It was also noted that <strong>the</strong> abbreviation “BM” was often used <strong>in</strong>appropriately<br />

to denote blood glucose.<br />

Sixty eight percent of blood glucose measurement tests <strong>we</strong>re done pre-feed and 26% post-feed (table<br />

12.9). These proportions <strong>we</strong>re similar for babies admitted to a neonatal unit and babies rema<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g<br />

with <strong>the</strong>ir mo<strong>the</strong>rs.<br />
