Brief description of the DIHK – CEFTA Project 

The DIHK-CEFTA Partnership Project “Implementation of CEFTA in order to improve the 

internationalization of SEE economy” is a project between the Association of Germa n 

Chambers of Industry and Commerce /DIHK/ and the SEE chambers. The project 

aims at chambers and SMEs in South-Eastern Europe and the benefits, which CEFTA 

agreement can offer them. A well implemented CEFTA agreement may lead to bette r 

e mployment o pportunities and to higher wages and salaries in the region. The CEFTA 

counties’chambers are supposed to play an active role in the implementation of the 

CEFTA agreement and to support the interest of SME businesses in international trade. 

The DIHK-CEFTA Partnership Project is financed by the German Federal Ministry of 

Economic Cooperation and Development /BMZ/ through the Foundation for Economic 

Development and Vocational Training /SEQUA/. The current three year project term 

started on 1 May 2010.
