Youth Scholarship/Fee Assistance Program<br />
Would you like <strong>to</strong> register your child for a recreation program but<br />
can’t because <strong>of</strong> a limited family budget? Financial assistance<br />
may be available through our Youth Activity Scholarships. Funding<br />
is provided by <strong>the</strong> <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Antioch</strong> CDBG and HUD program, which<br />
are based solely on need, not school grades. Scholarships will<br />
be funded only as long as resources are available. Applicants<br />
may submit applications for consideration in concurrence with<br />
registrations for any activities advertised for this year’s recreation<br />
program. Information and applications for this program can be<br />
picked up at <strong>the</strong> <strong>Antioch</strong> Community Center, 4703 Lone Tree Way,<br />
Monday thru Thursday 8:30am - 5pm. For additional information,<br />

Information<br />
The <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Antioch</strong> Recreation Department encourages all<br />
individuals with disabilities <strong>to</strong> participate in any <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>of</strong>ferings in<br />
this brochure. In order <strong>to</strong> provide assistance in <strong>the</strong>se programs,<br />
we request two weeks advanced notice for such service prior <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />
first meeting. We are also interested in assisting <strong>to</strong> accommodate<br />

Recreation Guide: The Recreation Guide is published four times a<br />
year by <strong>the</strong> <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Antioch</strong> Recreation Department as a community<br />
service. Every effort has been made <strong>to</strong> insure <strong>the</strong> accuracy and<br />
<strong>complete</strong>ness <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> information and events in <strong>the</strong> publication.<br />

Class Age Limits: The <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Antioch</strong> Recreation Department has<br />
over 25 years <strong>of</strong> experience providing quality programs for children.<br />
We set minimum age requirements for each <strong>of</strong> our classes in order<br />
<strong>to</strong> provide <strong>the</strong> safest and most enjoyable program for your child.<br />
Enrolled children must be <strong>the</strong> minimum age by <strong>the</strong> first day <strong>of</strong> class<br />
or turn <strong>the</strong> correct age during <strong>the</strong> class, unless o<strong>the</strong>rwise designated<br />
in a program description. For grade level specifications, we do not<br />
promote children <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> next grade level until <strong>the</strong> <strong>of</strong>ficial school year<br />
begins, ie. a child who <strong>complete</strong>s kindergarten this June will not be<br />
recognized as a 1st grader until <strong>the</strong>y <strong>of</strong>ficially begin 1st grade in <strong>the</strong><br />
Fall.<br />
<strong>Antioch</strong> Youth Council<br />
Due <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> recent <strong>City</strong> budget cuts, this program has been<br />
discontinued until fur<strong>the</strong>r notice. If you have any questions, please<br />
call 776-3050.<br />
Information Regarding Your Water Bill<br />
The <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Antioch</strong> is one <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> few local water utilities that<br />
provide a water bill on a monthly basis. By reviewing <strong>the</strong> water<br />
bill every month, homeowners can minimize losses due <strong>to</strong> leaks<br />
or over watering. Water bills also provide prior year comparative<br />
consumption information. On <strong>the</strong> reverse side <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> water bill<br />
is information regarding <strong>of</strong>fice hours, emergency numbers and<br />
conservation tips. Cus<strong>to</strong>mer Service Representatives are available<br />
<strong>to</strong> answer questions and <strong>to</strong> open, close or change accounts. They<br />
may be reached by dialing (925) 779-7060, Monday thru Thursday<br />
between <strong>the</strong> hours <strong>of</strong> 8am - 5pm. Additional information is available<br />

PARENT/TOT (6 months - 5 years with parent)<br />
Pollywogs (6 months - 36 months with parent)<br />
Guppies (3 years - 5 years with parent)<br />
Parent and child explore and encourage water exploration, water<br />
adjustment, swim readiness skills and water safety. Swim diapers<br />
required if not <strong>to</strong>ilet trained.<br />
TINY TOTS (3 years - 5 years without parent)<br />
Minnows - Learn <strong>to</strong> put face in water, front/back float (with support),<br />
kick, underwater exploration, roll front/back <strong>to</strong> front.<br />
Starfish - Children who are comfortable with face in water. Build on<br />
skills with independent floats on back & front, glides and safety skills.<br />
Seahorse - Very comfortable in water. Continue <strong>to</strong> build skills with<br />
improvement <strong>of</strong> strokes on front & back. Deep-water orientation,<br />

Ages 5 - 9 years. Learn an exciting new game called Splash<br />
Ball. Splash Ball is designed <strong>to</strong> introduce <strong>the</strong> sport <strong>of</strong> water polo<br />
<strong>to</strong> children ages 5-9. The intent is <strong>to</strong> provide basic skills and<br />
understanding <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> sport in a recreational format. Splash Ball is<br />

and <strong>City</strong> Park. Applications must be picked up and fees paid at <strong>the</strong><br />
Recreation Department. You may reserve no more than two weeks<br />
in advance and not less than three working days prior <strong>to</strong> your use.<br />

Wet Field Policy<br />
The <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Antioch</strong> Recreation Department has a WET FIELD POLICY<br />
that all users, whe<strong>the</strong>r <strong>the</strong>y have a permit or not, are expected <strong>to</strong><br />
abide by. Fields are not <strong>to</strong> be played on if <strong>the</strong> turf is wet. Play on<br />
wet fields is dangerous <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> players and very damaging <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> turf.<br />

Flag Football League (18 and older) Recreation Co-ed Volleyball<br />
Grab your friends and neighbors and sign up as a team (minimum<br />
<strong>of</strong> 8 players recommended) or an individual/free agent for <strong>the</strong> 5 on<br />
5 non-contact Flag Football League. If you register as a free agent,<br />
you will be assigned <strong>to</strong> a team. Competitive, recreational and<br />
co-ed divisions will be <strong>of</strong>fered. A minimum <strong>of</strong> 4 teams are needed<br />
for each division. Informational packets available for pick up at<br />
<strong>the</strong> <strong>Antioch</strong> Community Center, 4703 Lone Tree Way, Monday thru<br />
Friday 8:30am-5pm beginning July 8th. This league is tentatively<br />

Youth are divided in<strong>to</strong> three leagues. The 1st & 2nd grade league will play with a Nerf football and volunteer<br />
coaches will do <strong>the</strong> quarterbacking. The 3 - 4th & 5 - 6th grades will play with a junior size football and do <strong>the</strong>ir<br />
own quarterbacking. Games will be played on Saturdays at <strong>the</strong> <strong>Antioch</strong> Community Park (times TBA). Applications<br />
for volunteer coaching are available at <strong>the</strong> <strong>Antioch</strong> Community Center for those who believe in kids first, winning<br />

Online Driver’s Ed for Teens<br />
Ages 15 years & up. Are you tired <strong>of</strong> asking your parents for a<br />
ride? Are you at least 15 years old? If so, this class is for you.<br />
This is an interactive, online course with videos, animated driving<br />
scenarios and sample test questions. Learn <strong>the</strong> rules <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> road,<br />
major causes <strong>of</strong> traffic collisions, DMV procedures and much more.<br />
Receive DMV approved Certificate <strong>of</strong> Completion (OL 237). This<br />
class is a requirement for teens under 17-1/2 years old <strong>to</strong> obtain<br />

Free Composting Workshops<br />
Ever wonder what <strong>to</strong> do with lawn clippings, leaves, and organic<br />
waste that you hate <strong>to</strong> throw in <strong>the</strong> garbage? Ever consider<br />
composting? Composting is a natural process that breaks down<br />
organic material, such as yard and vegetable wastes, in<strong>to</strong> a soil-like<br />
material. Finished compost enhances soil, improves soil structure<br />
and adds nutrients <strong>to</strong> gardens and yards. And <strong>the</strong> best part <strong>of</strong><br />
composting is...it puts <strong>to</strong> good use wastes that might o<strong>the</strong>rwise end<br />

Horseback Riding Lessons<br />
Ages 6 - 11 years. Have you always wanted <strong>to</strong> get close <strong>to</strong> a horse<br />
or pony? Here is your chance <strong>to</strong> see if riding is for you. Each lesson<br />
we start by introducing horse and rider on <strong>the</strong> ground learning<br />
safety for both horse and rider, grooming saddling and more. <strong>the</strong>n<br />
we mount up and ride. Group lessons are a minimum <strong>of</strong> two and no<br />
more than four riders. This is a more economical way <strong>to</strong> get some<br />
time in <strong>the</strong> saddle while still improving your skills with an instruc<strong>to</strong>r<br />

We set minimum age requirements for each <strong>of</strong> our classes in order<br />
<strong>to</strong> provide <strong>the</strong> safest and most enjoyable program for your child.<br />
Enrolled children must be <strong>the</strong> minimum age by <strong>the</strong> first day <strong>of</strong> class<br />

MARINA<br />
The <strong>Antioch</strong> Marina, built in 1988, is located at <strong>the</strong> foot <strong>of</strong> “L” Street in <strong>Antioch</strong>. The Marina features<br />
berths from 24 <strong>to</strong> 70 feet with 82 covered berths between 32 and 50 feet. All berths are constructed <strong>of</strong><br />
concrete, providing even floatation with clean smooth dock surfaces.<br />

Picnic reservation requirements and rules:<br />
1. All fees must be paid when reserving.<br />
2. Reservations must be made no later than 2 working days prior <strong>to</strong><br />
<strong>the</strong> reservation (no later than Wednesday for <strong>the</strong> following weekend).<br />
3. Groups need <strong>to</strong> pick up and place all garbage in garbage cans<br />
provided in <strong>the</strong> area.<br />
4. Groups are responsible for damage <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> picnic area during <strong>the</strong>ir<br />
use. T<strong>here</strong> is no electricity in picnic areas.<br />
5. Permission is needed <strong>to</strong> bring any special equipment. Some<br />
equipment may require reserving party <strong>to</strong> provide insurance<br />
coverage <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>City</strong>.<br />
6. Alcohol Permit must be obtained from <strong>the</strong> Recreation Department<br />
for use <strong>of</strong> alcohol in any <strong>City</strong> park for a fee <strong>of</strong> $15 (alcohol can only<br />
be served in conjunction with food).<br />
AIR JUMPERS<br />
Air jumpers are allowed in <strong>the</strong> parks only if <strong>the</strong> company you<br />
are using has a liability insurance policy on file with <strong>the</strong> <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong><br />
<strong>Antioch</strong> at <strong>the</strong> <strong>Antioch</strong> Community Center. To inquire please call<br />

The <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Antioch</strong> Recreation Department is excited <strong>to</strong> <strong>of</strong>fer online registration for most programs. With online registration<br />
you will know immediately if you or your child are enrolled in <strong>the</strong> program! To set up an account with ActiveNet, our registration<br />
facilita<strong>to</strong>r, you will need <strong>to</strong> create a cus<strong>to</strong>mer login and password at: activenet.active.com/antiochrecreation<br />
Login name and password will be required every time you want <strong>to</strong> enroll in an activity, manage your account etc. If you forgot<br />

General Information<br />
Pre-registration is required and is on a first come, first<br />
served basis for participation in programs. Refunds will<br />
be issued if program/class is full. In <strong>the</strong> event <strong>of</strong> a full<br />
class, your name will be placed on a waiting list. Please<br />
note: We do not accept registration over <strong>the</strong> phone or<br />
by fax.<br />
Register Early - DON’T MISS OUT!<br />
Many classes fill early. Fees must be paid in full at <strong>the</strong><br />
time <strong>of</strong> registration. Classes are subject <strong>to</strong> cancellation<br />
if class minimum is not reached.<br />
Fee for Late Pick-up<br />
Parents agree <strong>to</strong> pick up <strong>the</strong>ir children by or before <strong>the</strong><br />
scheduled release time. A late fee <strong>of</strong> $5 per 5-minute<br />
interval PER CHILD will be charged. Late fees are<br />
payable <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Antioch</strong>.<br />

drop your Registration Form at our outdoor drop box at<br />

Refunds/Transfers<br />
The <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Antioch</strong> will be happy <strong>to</strong> arrange a transfer<br />
<strong>to</strong> ano<strong>the</strong>r class/activity or arrange a refund. Cus<strong>to</strong>mer<br />
requested refunds or transfers will be approved only if<br />
initiated by phone or in person NO LATER THAN 5<br />
business days prior <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> first day <strong>of</strong> class. No refunds<br />
issued after class has started. All refunds are subject <strong>to</strong><br />
a $7 service charge per activity unless class/activity is<br />
cancelled by <strong>the</strong> <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Antioch</strong> Recreation Department.<br />
Refunds take up <strong>to</strong> 3-6 weeks <strong>to</strong> receive in <strong>the</strong> mail.<br />
Cancellations<br />
The <strong>City</strong> has <strong>the</strong> right <strong>to</strong> cancel classes when enrollments<br />
have not reached <strong>the</strong>ir minimum. Please register early<br />
and help us <strong>to</strong> prevent class cancellations.<br />
We don’t like <strong>to</strong> cancel classes.... but sometimes<br />
it is necessary before <strong>the</strong> first meeting when enrollments are<br />
low. Your registration might be <strong>the</strong> one that enables <strong>the</strong><br />
class <strong>to</strong> be held.<br />
