Syntax: show ip pim [vrf vrf-name] traffic [join-prune | rx | tx]<br />

• vrf—PIM traffic statistics for the VRF instance identified by vrf-name<br />

• join-prune—Join/prune statistics.<br />

• rx—Received PIM traffic statistics.<br />

• tx—Transmitted PIM traffic statistics.<br />

NOTE<br />

If you have configured interfaces for standard PIM (dense mode) on the device, statistics for these<br />

interfaces are listed first by the display.<br />

NOTE: Unlike PIM dense, PIM Sparse uses the same messages for Joins and<br />

Prunes.<br />

The number of Register messages sent or received on the interface.<br />

The number of Register Stop messages sent or received on the interface.<br />

The number of Assert messages sent or received on the interface.<br />

The total number of IGMP messages sent and received by the device.<br />

The total number of IGMP messages discarded, including a separate counter for<br />

those that failed the checksum comparison.<br />

Clearing the PIM message counters<br />

You can clear the PIM message counters using the following command.<br />
