ADVERTISING DRAFT CONTRACT Barry indicated that Frank Fekete was working to develop the contractual language and that a draft would be available at the January meeting for the Standing Committee to review. MARKETING/ADVERTISING SPONSORSHIPS TO COE AND/OR DISTRICTS AT A DISCOUNTED RATE Barry presented the area for discussion by the group. After considerable discussion the group agreed as follows: 1. Public agency advertising will not be accepted at this time, with the exceptions noted below. This may be reviewed further at a later time after the initial implementation of the project. 2. County Offices/Superintendents will have a brokerage page where services can be displayed. There will not be any cost for displaying on this page. 3. CDE will be treated in the same manner as a COE with a page for listing their services. 4. There will also be links at several levels to the CDE Gold Mine site. PRESENTATIONS Owen discussed the presentations planned for the coming months. Vicki asked who was interested in participating in the presentation at the California PTA/CCBE/ CCSESA March Conference. Owen indicated that he, Erin and Larry would be at the conference and willing to participate. In addition, Ken Shelton offered to be part of the presentation. Dick Nagle requested that the representatives from Kern County make a presentation at the January PASSCO meeting. PROTOCOLS Joni indicated that her region had questioned how the protocol issue would work within the Menu of Services project. She noted that she had prepared some draft language for consideration by the Menu of Services Standing Committee. Joni reported that she would send out draft language for consideration at the January MOS meeting. MARKETING PLAN Barry reviewed a tentative draft of the marketing plan. The plan included a tentative prospecting list. Sally suggested the inclusion of hotels and other establishments that host the conferences held within the education community. Glen noted that a request for County Superintendents to identify additional prospective sponsors was included within the December Newsletter. It was agreed that we would also send out a letter to each County Superintendent asking for their support in identifying prospective advertising sponsors, such as vendors that did more than $250,000 annually with county offices. EMERGING ISSUES FORMAT Owen discussed the format for the password-protected discussion area for County Superintendents. The group requested that Joe and Glen review the format with respect to any
legal issues. It was suggested that Glen would work with Joe to pursue the legal review and they were encouraged to use Patricia White in this review. There was also discussion regarding the format that would allow for one password protected area for County Superintendents only, one password protected area for County and District Superintendents and one password protected area for all of the Steering Committees combined. Within this design, Steering Committees can have their own discussion area by subject, but they would have access to read and participate in other Steering Committee’s areas. The group felt comfortable with this design. BUDGET REPORT Larry and Owen discussed some transfers in the expenditure budget. The group supported the transfers, noting that the total expenditures are well within the budget. TIMELINE Owen announced for the group that we were approximately 30 days from the closed Beta testing and 70 days until the open Beta testing periods. The next meeting of the MOS Standing Committee is scheduled for January 26, 2000 at the Monterey Hyatt Regency from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. This is a meeting scheduled with our Partners.
