Collaboration with MAN Diesel. A key element of the MAN sales
and service platform is a joint venture with MAN Diesel, which
will be established later this year. This company will be dedicated
to the construction and sale of diesel power plants. As a general
contractor in plant construction, MAN Ferrostaal has been building
high-performance power plants driven by gas and steam turbines
for many years. The new joint venture will help to systematically
utilise the strengths of the two sister companies (namely, their
products, a sales organisation with project development expertise,
and project management) with a view to opening up new markets
in this area. The long-term goal of the joint venture is to achieve
market leadership in stationary diesel power plants.
>>>Global strength. MAN Ferrostaal’s strong global presence forms
an essential pillar of the new MAN sales and service platform. “We
have offices in more than 60 countries and 40 percent of our
employees work outside of Germany”, Mitscherlich points out. “It
is only natural that we are particularly interested in developing
our business relationships in countries where our sister companies
are not represented by their own overseas organisations.”
In conjunction with the new MAN sales and service platform, new
MAN offices are to be opened in Peking, Dubai and Teheran, for
example, for which MAN Ferrostaal will be responsible. These
MAN offices will prepare the ground for the opening up of greater
market access for MAN Group products in the regions in question.
The MAN office in Dubai is set to open at the start of 2007, and the
offices in Peking and Teheran will follow.

Nutzfahrzeuge (trucks and busses), MAN Diesel and MAN TURBO.
In addition, MAN Ferrostaal México takes care of MAN Roland’s
printing press business locally. Stefan Deuster, Director of the subsidiary,
therefore refers to a Grupo MAN en México: “Our trading
volume for core products amounted to 135 million euros in 2005,
with the commercial vehicles sector showing the greatest potential
for growth. By 2010, we expect revenue in this area to reach
some 250 million euros.”
MAN has been represented in Mexico since 1904 (initially as the
Gutehoffnungshütte group). Key MAN Ferrostaal projects in
Mexico have been in the area of transport and infrastructure,
such as the building of trains for a light-rail system in Mexico
City, Monterrey and Guadalajara, and plant construction for the
steel industry. Projects in energy, machinery and printing came
later. One high-profile project for the past five years has been the
delivery of compressor plants from MAN TURBO, which are used
for oil production in the Gulf of Mexico. They compress nitrogen
in the oil and gas fields to facilitate the production of oil and
natural gas.
