48 services & logistics INTEGRATED SERVICES IN THE PRINTING AREA “WE HELP KEEP OUR CUSTOMERS PROFITABLE” With its Intergrafica Print and Pack (IPP) business, MAN Ferrostaal is the world’s largest independent service provider for the graphic arts industry. With more than 50 offices in Latin America, Africa, Central and Southeast Asia, IPP represents a sales platform for the printing industry.
MAN Ferrostaal offers an integrated service portfolio in the printing area along the entire value chain, from process analysis to machine optimisation. Together with MAN Roland Druckmaschinen, IPP is pursuing a global “3S service strategy”, in particular in the area of sheet-fed presses, in large markets like Brazil, Mexico, South Africa, Turkey and Malaysia. This 3S focuses on service, spare parts and supplies. With the help of the machine support program, customers will be able to achieve the shortest possible setup times and the highest levels of product quality. All of these services go hand in hand throughout the entire life cycle of a printing works. This Life Cycle Management (LCM) means that the operational costs of a printing system are optimised and reduced over its entire life-time thanks to individual packages of measures. Approximately half of the more than 700 employees at IPP work in the service area. Their range of services encompasses: Consulting, project management, instruction, training, refitting, maintenance, repairs, spare parts supply, chemicals and consumables, as well as financing. Customers have a single point of contact, from setup to printing and further processing. To do this, we must focus on direct customer benefits,” says Dr. Thomas Kaup, Managing Director of Intergrafica Print & Pack GmbH. ENHANCING THE SERVICE PORTFOLIO The entire value chain is placed under the microscope and optimised. Production is made more efficient, a sustained increase in printing capacity is effected, print setup times are reduced, processes are integrated with inline solutions, value-enhancing auxiliary applications are integrated into the machines, quality is comprehensively controlled, production costs are lowered (fewer staff, less waste and consistently high quality). The production process is made more efficient by software connecting the automation modules. Kaup says “Our goal is to enhance our customers’ portfolio of products and services for their customers, which will allow them to stay even further ahead of the competition. Shorter lead times and lower setup costs for the production run enhance the economic elasticity of the printing systems.” Helen Vollrath
