MULTILAYER FILM PRODUCTION IN ARGENTINA
SEVEN AT
ONE STROKE!
Fresh food on the table – this is what all consumers desire and
what all manufacturers want to provide, even if the goods have
to be shipped from Argentina to Europe. To make this possible,
MAN Ferrostaal recently delivered high-tech machines made in
Europe for the production of multilayer film to IPESA, one of the
larger Latin-American manufacturers of plastic film for packaging.
The Argentinean company IPESA – RIO CHICO S.A., one of the
largest Latin-American manufacturers of flexible plastic film for
agricultural and food products wants to produce 7-layer sheets of
film with a lay-flat width of 200 cm. This 7-layer film provides
excellent protection for food products by providing a barrier
against oxygen and other gases. A high sun protection factor is
also incorporated into the film.
Their search for an experienced mechanical engineering company
to provide equipment to enable the manufacture of multiplayer
film led IPESA – RIO CHICO straight to KIEFEL Extrusion, Germany
and MAN Ferrostaal Argentina.
TARGET MARKET ARGENTINA
In January 2006, the complete 7-layer film production unit was
approved in the factory in Tierra del Fuego and began production
without further delay. The unit, manufactured in Worms in
Germany, has been spitting out approximately 350 kg of film an
hour ever since. The total capacity will serve the domestic market.
Thanks to the more than successful introduction of the new
production unit and the high demand for this type of film, the
Management at the plastics company is now also looking to new
markets beyond Argentina’s borders.
