About The FOA
The Fiber Optic Association, Inc. (FOA) is the
international professional society of fiber
optics, a non-profit educational organization
chartered to promote professionalism in fiber
optics through education, certification and
standards. Since its founding in 1995, the FOA
has certified over 35,000 fiber optic techs
through over 250 schools in over 40
countries. The FOA creates educational materials
and curriculum for training and development
of fiber optic industry staff who install
and run the world’s fiber optic networks. The
FOA also has the world’s largest free educational
website on fiber optics.
Event Summary
The event is aimed at bringing together both industry professionals, engineers
and technicians that want to know more about modern optical fiber networks and
the skills required to implement them. The event will open with a presentation on
the latest fiber technologies being implemented today and the impact they are
having on world markets. The second presentation will look at the coming five
years and what technologies are likely to be deployed in both mature and developing
markets. Fiber optic technology impacts on every facet of modern communications,
from a simple light distribution medium to illuminate instrumentation to
Submarine cables spanning the world’s oceans and carrying terabits of data per
second. Fiber optic technology is now commonplace in public access networks, in
private networks and as a medium for remote monitoring and control systems,
found in many industries across the globe.
To take advantage of these modern communications networks it is important that
there is a greater understanding of the underlying principles of the technology
and an awareness of the international standards and skills required to implement
the technology. The event will conclude with a presentation on fiber optic training
and the importance of both the knowledge and skills required by fiber optic professionals.
The importance of skilled and certified technicians and planners will be
explored along with the real benefits they bring to any organization competing for
business in modern markets.
The event will give ample opportunities for networking and the chance to discuss
the latest trends in technology and the training and development needed to
support optical fiber networks.
Registration Fee
AED 500 per person
