2.4.3 24-hour Storm Distribution<br />

The 24-hour storm distribution that is to be used for flood studies and design <strong>of</strong> stormwater drainage<br />

facilities in Maricopa County is the SCS Type II distribution. This distribution is shown in<br />

Table 2.5 and Figure 2.6. The 24-hour storm distribution is used for flood studies <strong>of</strong> drainage<br />

area larger than 100 square miles (see Policies and Standards <strong>Manual</strong>). This distribution is also<br />

to be used in combination with the 6-hour storm distribution for drainage areas between 20 and<br />

100 square miles to determine whether a local storm or a general storm will produce the greatest<br />

flood peak discharges or the maximum flood volumes.<br />
