AIMS OF THE COURSE<br />
To provide delegates with an overview of the purpose<br />
and requirements of <strong>ISO</strong> <strong>9001</strong>:<strong>2008</strong> as a tool for<br />
business management and improvement.<br />
Useful as an introduction to anyone involved in the<br />
development, implementation and management of an<br />
<strong>ISO</strong> <strong>9001</strong>:<strong>2008</strong> management system<br />
Course learning objectives:<br />
• Understand and explain the purpose and intent of<br />
the <strong>ISO</strong> 9000 series of standards<br />
• Understand and describe the requirements of the<br />
<strong>ISO</strong> <strong>9001</strong>:<strong>2008</strong> standard within the <strong>ISO</strong> 9000 series<br />
• Understand and explain the relationship between<br />
the clauses of <strong>ISO</strong> <strong>9001</strong>:<strong>2008</strong><br />
• Understand the requirements of the standard and<br />
provide guidance for implementation<br />
The course will be interactive to encourage<br />
participants, discuss and clarify all their doubts, if<br />
any about the <strong>ISO</strong> <strong>9001</strong>:<strong>2008</strong> standard<br />
requirements and thus facilitating for effective<br />
implementation of the quality management system.<br />
PRE-REQUISITES<br />
Familiarity with the structure and requirements of<br />
<strong>ISO</strong> <strong>9001</strong>: <strong>2008</strong> would be useful, but not essential,<br />
as this course is designed as a basic introduction to<br />
the subject.<br />
DELEGATE ASSESSMENT<br />
Assessment is carried out by continuous<br />
assessment of delegate performance throughout<br />
the theoretical and practical phases.<br />
CONTENTS<br />
The course contents are:<br />
• An introduction to the concept of quality, its basic<br />
concepts, and terminology associated with quality<br />
management<br />
• Introduction to the benefits that may be achieved<br />
through implementation of an <strong>ISO</strong> <strong>9001</strong>:<strong>2008</strong><br />
compliant system<br />
• Introduction to the <strong>ISO</strong> 9000 series of standards<br />
• Review and interpretation of the particular<br />
requirements of <strong>ISO</strong> <strong>9001</strong>:<strong>2008</strong> for implementation<br />
• Effective approach to the implementation<br />

AIMS OF THE COURSE<br />
To provide students with an appreciation of how to audit<br />
management systems in accordance with the guidelines<br />
in <strong>ISO</strong> <strong>9001</strong>, for conformity with the requirements of <strong>ISO</strong><br />
<strong>9001</strong> and the company <strong>QMS</strong>.<br />
Useful as an introduction to:<br />
• anyone involved in the development, implementation<br />
and management of an <strong>ISO</strong> <strong>9001</strong>:<strong>2008</strong> management<br />
system, and/or<br />
• preparing for performing internal audits<br />
COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES<br />
By the end of the course students will be able to:<br />
• Describe the responsibilities of an internal auditor<br />
and the role of internal audit in the maintenance and<br />
improvement of management systems<br />
• Describe with reference to the Plan, Do, Check, Act<br />
(PDCA) cycle and the model of a process-based <strong>QMS</strong><br />
the purpose and structure of <strong>ISO</strong> <strong>9001</strong>:<strong>2008</strong><br />
• Plan, conduct and report an internal audit of part of<br />
a <strong>QMS</strong> in accordance with the guidelines in<br />
<strong>ISO</strong> <strong>9001</strong>:<strong>2008</strong><br />

By the end of the course students will be able to<br />
understand and describe:<br />
• The purpose, structure and significance of a <strong>QMS</strong><br />
• The terms and definitions used in auditing, including<br />
objectives, criteria and scope<br />
• The audit cycle<br />
• Auditor/lead auditor responsibilities<br />
• Planning and conducting audits of processes<br />
for which documented procedures do or do not<br />
exist<br />
• Gathering and evaluating objective evidence<br />
• Audit reporting and follow-up<br />
