Ship modelling exhibition • • • From October Saturday16 to Sunday 17 At the community centre 1301 Rue du Bois For the whole family Bilingual show from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Saint-Lazare Library is proud to present an exceptional ship modelling exhibition by members of The Wood 'n' Sail Ship Modelling Workshop. You will share the passion of these craftsmen and be impressed by the quality of the scale models of tall ships that have marked naval history. To reproduce these tall ships to scale, the modellers had to search through historic records to find the original plans and authenticate every detail. All those who wish to learn more about the navigational world of times gone by are invited to come aboard for an unforgettable weekend! Numerology with Mady Létourneau • • • Thursday, October 21 At the community centre 1301 Rue du Bois For adults In French only at 7 p.m. Numbers never lie and they are infinite. Numerology is not a fad, it is a human science in its own right. Although seductive, this approach is concrete, rational and realistic. It should not be confused with some too often esoteric and divinatory discourses heard elsewhere. Numerology answers our questions as to the personality of the individual and the nature of his life cycles! Where am I at? What are the life cycles of my destiny? What is my spiritual and genetic evolution as I progress on my life path? What roles do my soul, heredity and intimate self play? Do we all have our own veil of forgetfulness? Numerologist Mady Létourneau will help us find the answers. Together, we will look at what the year 2010 has in store for us. In numerology, it is a year “3” which is a lucky number. So we will see what our respective chances are of discovering our sixth sense. Hubert, the trapper • • • Saturday, October 23 At the community centre 1301 Rue du Bois For the whole family Bilingual show at 7 p.m. To the sound of traditional music, children will gather around Hubert the trapper and sit on bear skins. They will fraternize and eat maple candy. Then, the trapper will tell them what happened when he opened this chest containing a suit, a letter and all the items that people used in New France. They will talk about their respective society and compare their way of life and the world they live in, their clothes, their trades and currency, their homes, their tools and techniques, their means of transportation and communication, their beliefs and religions, their customs and diet. Children will get to touch the fur skins, see how an “American Indian lighter” works, smell the hay and taste the bread that American Indians made. Then it will be time to say goodbye.
