Non-road fuel consumption and pollutant emissions FOEN 2008 86 8.5 Garden-care/hobby appliances 8.5.1 Fuel consumption This category only concerns petrol-powered appliances. In terms of consumption, the most important appliances are household lawn mowers and motor scythes used for professional purposes, followed by appliances used for professional garden-care (Fig. 44, top). Development of fuel consumption from 1980 to 2020 The development of fuel consumption (Fig. 44, bottom) shows a clear trend in line with the development of operating hours (Fig. 25, bottom), namely that 2-stroke engines are being replaced by 4-stroke engines.
