Individual
contractor
administration
UNOPS has developed a specialized contract modality,
the Individual Contractor Agreement (ICA), to fit the
needs of the projects we implement and the partners
we support.
The standard cost of an ICA is considerably lower than
the proforma cost of staff positions, while individual
contract holders often enjoy higher take home pay and
basic benefits. Recruiters determine wages by using
a fee-setting tool, which identifies comparable salary
ranges for the position. The salary is fixed for the
duration of the contract, which could range from one
hour up to five years.
The ICA is the most highly sought-after human resources
product among UNOPS partners. This type of contract
is easy to understand, quick and non-bureaucratic
to administer and provides fair and basic benefits to
contract holders, which can be adjusted in line with our
partners’ needs and budget constraints.
The ICA is available in two categories: support and
specialist, and is offered as an international or national
contract. UNOPS issues and administers the ICA
on behalf of its partners in a variety of sectors and
industries.
The contract is suitable for short-term or temporary
employment, for jobs limited by a project’s duration or for
roles unrelated to the primary focus of the organization.
