probationary appointment as a faculty member with academic rank <strong>of</strong> assistant pr<strong>of</strong>essor or above for a<br />
term <strong>of</strong> one year, unless a longer term is specified in the contract. In no event shall the specific term exceed<br />
three years.<br />

may be appointments to part‐time positions, appointments <strong>of</strong> less than one academic year, courtesy<br />

appointments to the rank <strong>of</strong> insturctor, asistant instructor, lecturer or senior lecturer, appointments to ranks<br />
preceded by the designation "visiting" and appointments supported by funds over which the <strong>University</strong><br />
cannot reasonably expect to continue indefinitely, provided that the total period <strong>of</strong> full‐time service on a<br />
faculty Special Apppointment in the rank <strong>of</strong> instructor shall not exceed 7 years.<br />
