Ha Long Bay
CST #2075415-20

Ha Long Bay Pre-Cruise and Tour Extension
Set sail among the
breathtaking limestone
cliffs that jut from the
emerald waters of
Ha Long Bay
According to local legend, Ha Long Bay was formed by
the thrashing tails of dragons that were sent by the gods
to help the Vietnamese people defend their land from
invading Chinese forces. According to scientists, it was
created by millions of years of erosion and geological
evolution. However it was fashioned, Ha Long Bay is a
unique wonder of the natural world—a precious open-air
geological museum and UNESCO World Heritage Site.
An exploration of the bay and its islands is the perfect
way to launch your Mekong River adventure.
Day 1 | Hanoi
Once you have cleared customs at Hanoi’s Noi Bai
International Airport, you’ll be greeted by a Uniworld
representative who will help you with your luggage and
take you to the InterContinental Hotel Westlake. The
InterContinental Hotel Westlake boasts a serene lakeside
setting and close proximity to the 800-year-old Kim Lien
(Golden Lotus) Pagoda, which is many consider by many
to be the most beautiful pagoda in Hanoi. After enjoying
a private check-in, you can choose to rest at the hotel or
go out and explore the city. Your local host will be happy
to offer suggestions. As the sun dips below the horizon,
consider strolling across the romantic torch-lit bridge
that leads to the hotel’s Sunset Bar, which is set on its
own island.
Day 2 | Ha Long Bay
After a delicious breakfast at your hotel, you’ll board a
motorcoach for a scenic drive to Ha Long Bay. Upon
arrival, hop aboard a luxury junk (high-masted sailing ship)
to begin your breathtaking cruise of the bay. You’ll take in
spectacular views of the 1,500-plus isles that dot the
emerald water. While some of the rocky outcroppings are
small, precipitous, and uninhabitable, other islands are
large enough to contain extensive caves and even lakes.
Enjoy lunch as you sail among the amazing rock formations,
hearing about the history of the bay and observing the
Vietnamese fishermen going about their daily routines in
Ha Long Bay’s floating villages. Then disembark the ship
in order to explore one of the bay’s remarkable islands
on foot.
Later, savor dinner and scenic sailing onboard the junk
before retiring to your comfortable outside stateroom as
the day draws to a close.
Day 3 | Hanoi
Disembark your ship after breakfast and return to Hanoi,
where you’ll check back into the InterContinental Hotel
Westlake. It’s time for your exciting cruise/tour of Vietnam,
Cambodia, and the Mekong River to begin!
Buffet breakfast is included with hotel stay. All meals are
included onboard the junk.
