Invited talk:
1) Talk on ‘Bioremediation Techniques’ at Yashwantrao Chavan Institute of Science and
Technology, Satara (11 th March 2011).
Technical Skills:
I have experimental experience with purification chromatographic techniques, I am also
aware with electrophoretic techniques Molecular biological techniques and spectroecopic techniques
like UV-Vis spectrophotometer, FT-IR, GC-MS, HPTLC and HPLC.
Doctoral Study:
During my doctoral study I did my research on microbial decolorization and degradation of
various industrial textile dyes. I have determined the enzyme system which is responsible for these
biodegradation processes. Study of individual dyes and the mixture of dyes by using the standard
method of ADMI. The toxicity study (like phytotoxicity, microbial toxicity) of parent and metabolites
formed after degradation also carried out by using different analytical techniques such as UV-Vis
spectrophotometer, FTIR, HPLC, GCMS, SEM and TOC and COD analyzer etc. Considering the
industrial approach for large scale application I have designed a fixed bed bioreactor applying
immobilized cells using synthetic matrix and natural agricultural waste material to make the process
economically feasible and applicable.
In Taiwan, I have also worked on the project of fermentative Biohydrogen production using
lignocellulosic biomass. In this project, we have isolated and identified the efficient cellulolytic
microorganisms along with the cellulase enzyme production by using agricultural raw materials and
their characterization. Finally we have successfully applied these enzymes for the preparation of
2

feedstock for biohydrogen and high value chemicals production using dark and light fermentative
approach.
In South Korea I have worked on cellulolytic enzymes production and their application for the
degradation of agricultural waste and their application for ethanol production.
