them <strong>and</strong> their caregivers<br />

with nutritional<br />

support in terms of<br />

the Policy Guidelines<br />

<strong>for</strong> the Nutrition<br />

Supplementation<br />

Programme of the Health<br />

Facility Based Nutrition<br />

Programme & National<br />

Guidelines on Nutrition<br />

<strong>for</strong> People Living with<br />

HIV, AIDS, TB <strong>and</strong> other<br />

Chronic Debilitating<br />

Conditions, 2007. xiv<br />

Lactating women with a<br />

growth faltering infant<br />

under the age of six<br />

months. Once the infant<br />

reaches the age of 6–12<br />

months, the infant will<br />

also get <strong>for</strong>tified mealie<br />

meal.<br />

Adults who are HIV+<br />

<strong>and</strong> show signs of<br />

undernourishment<br />

Adults who have<br />

tuberculosis <strong>and</strong><br />

show signs of<br />

undernourishment<br />

The support to be given<br />

to children who are<br />

HIV+ includes:<br />

<br />

advice <strong>and</strong> guidelines<br />

to caregivers of HIV+<br />

infants <strong>and</strong> children<br />

on how to meet<br />

energy requirements<br />

<strong>and</strong> how to overcome<br />

feeding difficulties like<br />

nausea, vomiting <strong>and</strong><br />

sores in the mouth;<br />

<br />

<strong>for</strong> children who are<br />

of eligible age (under<br />

five) <strong>and</strong> who fall<br />

below the goal weight<br />

<strong>for</strong> age, as prescribed<br />

by the Nutrition<br />
