8.2 Lindemann mechanism 178 8.2 Lindemann mechanism First attempts to explain the pressure dependence of unimolecular reaction rate constants due to radiation and the dissociation dynamics due to centrifugal forces (rotational excitation) proved to be wrong. In addition, the historic examples for unimolecular reactions, for instance the N 2 O 5 decomposition, were later proven to have more complex reaction mechanisms.
