The Point Foundation is pleased to announce the availability of numerous scholarship opportunities for your
LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) students. The Point Foundation provides financial support,
mentoring and hope to meritorious students who are marginalized due to sexual orientation, gender expression
or gender identity. The Point Foundation recognizes that individuals may be socially marginalized or even
abandoned by family, friends and society because of their sexual orientation, gender expression or gender
identity. These lives should not be further disadvantaged as they prepare for the future.
By identifying and supporting these scholars, The Point Foundation hopes to provide a greater level of
acceptance, respect and tolerance within future generations for all persons, regardless of sexual orientation,
gender expression or gender identity. In addition, we strive to provide higher education opportunities to
outstanding students who otherwise would not have the chance to go to school.

Members of AFL-CIO unions participating in any Union Plus program, their spouses and their dependent
children (foster children, step children, and any other child for whom the individual member provides greater
than 50% of his or her support) can apply for a Union Plus Scholarship. (Participating AFL-CIO union members
from Puerto Rico, Canada, Guam and Virgin Islands and U.S. citizens are eligible.) Members do not have to
purchase any Union Plus program product or participate in any Union Plus programs to apply for the
scholarships and scholarship awards are not based upon participation in a Union Plus program.

The Gates Millennium Scholars is aimed at increasing the number of low-income African Americans, Asian
Pacific Americans, American Indians/Alaska Natives, and Hispanic Americans enrolling in and completing
undergraduate and graduate degree programs. If students meet the specific criteria, they should contact the
Financial Aid Office with the appropriate application materials to be nominated. Student should have a
cumulative GPA of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale; accepted into or enrolled full-time in an accredited college of university
at the time of the award; or are accepted into our enrolled in a graduate degree program in mathematics, science
(including life sciences, physical sciences and computer science), engineering, education or library science;
have demonstrated financial need and have demonstrated leadership commitment through participation in
community service, extracurricular activities or other activities that reflect leadership abilities.

The competition for the scholarships is open to any student who is a U.S. citizen and whose parent is a regular
UPS employee on the date of the student's application and at the time of award.
• USA FUNDS ACCESS to Education Scholarships

USA Funds is now accepting applications for one of their major higher-education-access initiatives, the USA
Funds ACCESS to Education Scholarships. USA Funds will award up to $2.85 million in renewable
scholarships to students demonstrating financial need. Full-time undergraduate students are eligible for $1,500
awards, and half-time undergraduate students may qualify for $750 awards.
