Ser<strong>to</strong>ma International is now accepting applications for <strong>scholarships</strong> for all deaf and hard-<strong>of</strong>-hearing college<br />

students pursuing four-year degrees. This organization will provide 13 awards <strong>to</strong> students attending universities<br />

in <strong>the</strong> United States or Canada.<br />

Application Process: Send a self-addressed, stamped envelope with request.<br />

Eligibility: Have 3.2 cumulative grade point average. Have a documented hearing loss. Be a full-time entering<br />

or continuing student in a four-year degree program or university in <strong>the</strong> United States or Canada.<br />

Eligibility: U.S. citizens <strong>of</strong> Italian descent (at least one Italian or Italian American grandparent) enrolled in an<br />

Previous SIF scholarship recipients are not eligible.<br />

National Merit $2500 Scholarship<br />

National Merit $2500 Scholarships are one-time, nonrenewable awards <strong>of</strong> $2,500 made <strong>to</strong> high school seniors<br />

who qualify as <strong>to</strong>p finalists in <strong>the</strong> annual National Merit Scholarship Program. <strong>The</strong> National Merit Scholarship<br />

Corporation chooses scholars based on PSAT/NMSQT scores and o<strong>the</strong>r criteria.<br />

National Merit Achievement Scholarship<br />

State Farm Companies Foundation sponsors 20 Achievement Scholarships annually. Achievement Scholarships<br />

are awarded <strong>to</strong> African-American high school seniors selected by <strong>the</strong> National Merit Scholarship Corporation<br />

Who is eligible <strong>to</strong> apply? High school seniors entering college and returning college students (undergraduates<br />

only) attending accredited US colleges or universities. Preference is given <strong>to</strong> high school students entering<br />

college. Applcants should <strong>have</strong> a GPA <strong>of</strong> 3.0 or higher, be enrolled in a demanding course <strong>of</strong> study,<br />

demonstrate skilled writing ability, achieve a combined SAT score <strong>of</strong> 1000 or better or ACT <strong>of</strong> 22, and rank in<br />

Scholarship amount: $3,000 <strong>to</strong> $10,000 yearly<br />

How are <strong>the</strong> <strong>scholarships</strong> awarded? Preference is given <strong>to</strong> high school seniors entering college. Some<br />

preference may be given <strong>to</strong> residents <strong>of</strong> salem and <strong>the</strong> North Shore <strong>of</strong> Bos<strong>to</strong>n, Massachusetts. Awards are open<br />
