Eligibility: All graduating students from accredited colleges are invited <strong>to</strong> apply by February 15<br />

Selection: Awards will be based on <strong>the</strong> quality <strong>of</strong> your proposal, your academic record, and o<strong>the</strong>r personal<br />

achievements. Semi-finalists will be personally interviewed prior <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir selection for <strong>the</strong> award.<br />

Award: <strong>The</strong> Samuel Hunting<strong>to</strong>n Public Service Award provides $10,000 for a one year-public service project:<br />

$5,000 is awarded at <strong>the</strong> start <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> project; and <strong>the</strong> remaining $5,000 is awarded upon receipt <strong>of</strong> a six-month<br />

progress report.<br />

<strong>The</strong> Wal<strong>to</strong>n Family Foundation and Wal-Mart Foundation help provide opportunities through various education<br />

initiatives such as <strong>the</strong> scholarship programs. Last year alone, Wal-Mart and SAM'S CLUB'S gave over $45<br />

million for our company-wide education initiative.<br />

<strong>The</strong> <strong>following</strong> scholarship programs reflect Sam and Helen Wal<strong>to</strong>n's belief that education should be a<br />

fundamental commitment <strong>of</strong> Wal-Mart. Below are four scholarship opportunities and <strong>the</strong> basic qualifications.<br />

Information for <strong>the</strong> new 2007 program guidelines has yet <strong>to</strong> be announced.<br />

• Scholarships Available To <strong>the</strong> General Public<br />

• Sam Wal<strong>to</strong>n Community Scholarship - $1,000<br />

o Not a Wal-Mart associate or immediate relative<br />

o Senior, graduating high school in spring 2007<br />

OR <strong>have</strong> GED equivalency (see application for details)<br />

o At least one year a Permanent Legal Resident<br />

o Have pro<strong>of</strong> <strong>of</strong> SAT or ACT test scores<br />

o Can prove financial need by required documents<br />

o Can prove at least a 2.5 Cumulative G.P.A.<br />

• Scholarships Available <strong>to</strong> Associates <strong>of</strong> Wal-Mart S<strong>to</strong>res, Inc.<br />

• Higher REACH Scholarship - Up <strong>to</strong> $2,000 per year<br />

o Students out <strong>of</strong> high school 1 year<br />

OR <strong>have</strong> GED equivalency (see application for details)<br />

o Employed by Wal-Mart S<strong>to</strong>res, Inc. at least 1 continuous year as <strong>of</strong> January 20<br />

o Meet/Exceed Expectations on most recent Associate Evaluation<br />

o Can prove financial need by required documentation<br />

• Associate Scholarship - $2,000<br />

o Employed by Wal-Mart S<strong>to</strong>res, Inc. at least 1 continuous year<br />

o Senior, graduating High School in spring 2006<br />

OR <strong>have</strong> GED equivalency (see application for details)<br />

o Minimum 18 ACT or 800 SAT score<br />

o Can prove financial need by required documentation<br />

• Wal<strong>to</strong>n Family Foundation Scholarship - $10,000<br />

o Son/Daughter <strong>of</strong> a full time Wal-Mart Associate<br />

o Senior, graduating High School in spring 2007<br />

OR <strong>have</strong> GED equivalency (see application for details)<br />

o Minimum 22 ACT or 1030 SAT score<br />

o Can prove financial need by required documentation
