Eligibility: All graduating students from accredited colleges are invited to apply by February 15
Selection: Awards will be based on the quality of your proposal, your academic record, and other personal
achievements. Semi-finalists will be personally interviewed prior to their selection for the award.
Award: The Samuel Huntington Public Service Award provides $10,000 for a one year-public service project:
$5,000 is awarded at the start of the project; and the remaining $5,000 is awarded upon receipt of a six-month
progress report.

The Walton Family Foundation and Wal-Mart Foundation help provide opportunities through various education
initiatives such as the scholarship programs. Last year alone, Wal-Mart and SAM'S CLUB'S gave over $45
million for our company-wide education initiative.
The following scholarship programs reflect Sam and Helen Walton's belief that education should be a
fundamental commitment of Wal-Mart. Below are four scholarship opportunities and the basic qualifications.
Information for the new 2007 program guidelines has yet to be announced.
• Scholarships Available To the General Public
• Sam Walton Community Scholarship - $1,000
o Not a Wal-Mart associate or immediate relative
o Senior, graduating high school in spring 2007
OR have GED equivalency (see application for details)
o At least one year a Permanent Legal Resident
o Have proof of SAT or ACT test scores
o Can prove financial need by required documents
o Can prove at least a 2.5 Cumulative G.P.A.
• Scholarships Available to Associates of Wal-Mart Stores, Inc.
• Higher REACH Scholarship - Up to $2,000 per year
o Students out of high school 1 year
OR have GED equivalency (see application for details)
o Employed by Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. at least 1 continuous year as of January 20
o Meet/Exceed Expectations on most recent Associate Evaluation
o Can prove financial need by required documentation
• Associate Scholarship - $2,000
o Employed by Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. at least 1 continuous year
o Senior, graduating High School in spring 2006
OR have GED equivalency (see application for details)
o Minimum 18 ACT or 800 SAT score
o Can prove financial need by required documentation
• Walton Family Foundation Scholarship - $10,000
o Son/Daughter of a full time Wal-Mart Associate
o Senior, graduating High School in spring 2007
OR have GED equivalency (see application for details)
o Minimum 22 ACT or 1030 SAT score
o Can prove financial need by required documentation
