Who is eligible <strong>to</strong> apply? Applicants must be ei<strong>the</strong>r an unadopted orphan, or are or were in foster care at least<br />

one year at <strong>the</strong> time <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir high school graduation.<br />

Scholarship amount: $1,000 <strong>to</strong> $7,000<br />

How are <strong>the</strong> <strong>scholarships</strong> awarded? Selection is based on academic merit, financial need, and written<br />

recommendations. <strong>The</strong> scholarship is renewable.<br />

Application process: Applications are available only on Orphan Foundation <strong>of</strong> America <strong>the</strong> above website<br />

When can I apply for this scholarship? On or after January 1 <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> award year.<br />

What is <strong>the</strong> application deadline? <strong>The</strong>re are two parts <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> application; an on-line form which closes March<br />

31, and hard copy materials which must <strong>have</strong> a postmark date <strong>of</strong> no later than April 15.<br />

• Optimist International 9-11 post-secondary educational <strong>scholarships</strong><br />

Offers: Scholarships, in <strong>the</strong> amount <strong>of</strong> $1,500 per individual, are available.<br />

Criteria: Any youth who was affected through <strong>the</strong> death or disablement <strong>of</strong> a parent/legal guardian as a result <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> terrorist attacks on <strong>the</strong> <strong>the</strong> United states on September 11, 2001 is eligible. For fur<strong>the</strong>r information and an<br />

application from <strong>the</strong> 9-11 Scholarship, individuals are urged <strong>to</strong> contact <strong>the</strong> Optimist Club <strong>of</strong> Arling<strong>to</strong>n at PO<br />
