• NCAA Foundation, The Freedom Forum Sports Journalism Scholarship
This is the 14th year of offering a scholarship program for sports journalism. This program is designed
specifically to assist future sports journalists, while promoting quality sports journalism education at the
collegiate level. Eight (8) $3,000 scholarships will be awarded for the 2006 -2007 academic year to outstanding

NCAA announces the availability of scholarships for ethnic minorities and women interested in pursuing an
advanced degree in a sports-related field. The scholarships are available through the NCAA Ethnic Minority
and Women’s Enhancement Programs. The NCAA awards 13 scholarships to ethnic minorities and 13
scholarships to women college graduates who will be entering their initial year of postgraduate studies. Each
award is valued at $6,000. For both scholarships, three additional $6,000. scholarships are awarded to students
who have completed undergraduate study at Division III institutions.
Please note the student must be a U.S. Citizen. Awardees of the scholarship must be entering their initial
postgraduate studies during the 2006-2007 academic year, and they must be a full-time student at all times
while using the award.
Official transcript(s) must arrive, not be postmarked, by the deadline in order for the application to be complete
and be reviewed. The application deadline is January 18, 2006 and it may be submitted online only (no hard

Twelve scholarships/grants in the amount of $1,250 will be available to African-American students who are:
o Residents of New England
o Attending or planning to attend a New England college/university
o US citizen or permanent resident
o Majoring in/or interested in science, technology, engineering or mathematics
o High school senior or college freshman or sophomore.
Funds are to be used for college/educational expenses.
