<strong>The</strong> applicant must :<br />

o be enrolled full time as a high school senior, progressing normally <strong>to</strong>ward graduation in <strong>the</strong> spring or<br />

summer <strong>of</strong> 2007, with plans <strong>to</strong> enter college no later than <strong>the</strong> fall <strong>following</strong> graduation;<br />

o <strong>have</strong> a strong commitment <strong>to</strong> pursue a bachelor's degree at an accredited institution (students may start<br />

<strong>the</strong>ir studies at a two-year institution and <strong>the</strong>n transfer <strong>to</strong> a four-year institution);<br />

o demonstrate critical financial need ($50,000 or less adjusted gross income per family is preferred; if<br />

higher, explanation must be provided);<br />

o demonstrate involvement in co-curricular and community activities;<br />

o demonstrate academic achievement (minimum grade point average <strong>of</strong> 2.0);<br />

o be a resident <strong>of</strong> one <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> states where <strong>the</strong> Horatio Alger Association does not <strong>of</strong>fer a state scholarship<br />

program: Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Connecticut, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Kansas, Maine,<br />

Massachusetts, Michigan, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North<br />

Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Utah, Vermont,<br />

Washing<strong>to</strong>n, West Virginia, and Wisconsin; and<br />

o be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.<br />

Amount <strong>of</strong> scholarship is $1,000. and up <strong>to</strong> 150 schoalrships will be awarded. Refer <strong>to</strong> website for filing<br />
