BETTY RENDEL SCHOLARSHIP
The National Federation of Republican Women established the Betty Rendel Scholarship Fund
in September 1995 in honor of NFRW Past President Betty Rendel’s extraordinary leadership
skills and dedication to the Republican Party in her home state of Indiana, as well as at the
national level. The three annual scholarships of $1,000 are awarded to undergraduates who are
majoring in political science, government or economics and have successfully completed at least
two years of college coursework. The recipients are chosen from applicants from across the
nation. Scholarship winners may not reapply.

Each year at its National Convention in July, the NFB gives a broad array of scholarships to recognize
achievement by blind scholars. All applicants for these scholarships must be (1) legally blind and (2) pursuing
or planning to pursue a fulltime, postsecondary course of study in a degree program at a United States
institution, except that one scholarship may be given to a fulltime employee also attending school part-time. In
addition, some scholarships have been further restricted by the donor. Each applicant will be considered for all
scholarships for which he or she qualifies. The scholarship application deadline is March 31.

• National Italian American Foundation Scholarship

The National Italian American Foundation (NIAF) has scholarship funding to award to outstanding students
during summer for use during the following academic year. The awards will be made on the basis of academic
merit and divided between two groups of students.
General Category I: Italian American students who demonstrate outstanding potential and high academic
achievements. Area of study – open.
General Category II: Those students from any ethnic background majoring or minoring in Italian language,
Italian studies, Italian American studies or a related field, who demonstrate outstanding potential and high
academic achievements. Scholarships range $2,000 - $5,000. Each scholarship award can cover eligible
academic expenses (tuition, books, fees, and university-provided room and board). Scholarship recipients are
eligible for one year of scholarship support. Applicants and winners can and are encouraged to reapply in
subsequent years. Deadlines are: Apply on line April 30, 2001, teacher evaluation form must be postmarked,
transcripts by mail must be postmarked.
