Eligibility Requirements:
Spouse, child, or stepchild of a fallen firefighter honored at the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial in
Emmitsburg, Maryland; Children must currently be under the age of 30 or have been under the age of 22 at the
time of their firefighter's death; High school diploma or equivalency, or in the final year of high school;
Currently pursuing or planning to pursue undergraduate or graduate studies, vocational-technical training, a
certification program, or job skills training at an accredited institution; Currently enrolled or planning to enroll
as a full- or part-time student; Minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale or "C"average for
applicants pursuing an academic degree.
Selection Criteria: Academic standing ; Statement of Interest including personal, academic and career goals as
well as involvement in extracurricular activities, including community and volunteer activities;
Two letters of recommendation - One letter should be from a teacher, employer, or a member of the community
familiar with you and your goals and the other from a member of the fire service. If it is not possible to provide
a letter from a member of the fire service, please attach an explanation.

Each year at its national convention in July, the NFB gives a broad array of scholarships to recognize
achievement by blind scholars. All applicants for these scholarships must be (1) legally blind and (2) pursuing
or planning to pursue a full-time, postsecondary course of study in a degree program at a United States’
institution in the fall of 2007, except that one scholarship may be given to a full-time employee also attending
school part-time. In addition, some scholarships have been further restricted by the donor. Each applicant will
be considered for all scholarships for which he or she qualifies. The scholarship application deadline is March
31, 2007. Scholarships to be given at the 2007 National Convention are listed with special restrictions noted:

o NATIONAL PATHFINDER SCHOLARSHIP
The National Federation of Republican Women established the National Pathfinder Scholarship
Fund in 1985 in honor of First Lady Nancy Reagan. The three annual scholarships of $2,500
provide financial assistance and support to students seeking undergraduate or graduate degrees.
Undergraduate sophomores, juniors and seniors, as well as students enrolled in a master's degree
program, are eligible to apply for the scholarship. Recent high school graduates and
undergraduate freshmen are not eligible. Scholarship winners may not reapply.
