o Grace Edwards Scholarship<br />

Commonwealth and whose service was between February 1, 1955 and <strong>the</strong><br />

termination <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Vietnam campaign.<br />

o Child <strong>of</strong> a Veteran whose service was credited <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> Commonwealth and<br />

High school seniors who will be entering college -<br />

<strong>The</strong> WALTER S. BARR SCHOLARSHIP<br />

<strong>The</strong>se awards for undergraduate education are made annually by <strong>the</strong> Scholarship Committee <strong>to</strong><br />

residents <strong>of</strong> Hampden County, MA who are members <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> senior class at <strong>the</strong>ir local public or<br />

private secondary schools. Awards are based on school records, college entrance examinations,<br />

general attainments and financial need. Awards will be continued through <strong>the</strong> four year course if<br />

<strong>the</strong> student's record and need justify such continuance.<br />

College students continuing <strong>the</strong>ir studies in college -<br />

<strong>The</strong> WALTER S. BARR COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP<br />

Barr Scholarships are also available <strong>to</strong> students currently attending college. Second and third<br />

year students <strong>of</strong>ten require a greater degree <strong>of</strong> financial assistance than do first year students.<br />

<strong>The</strong>refore, <strong>the</strong> Fund <strong>of</strong>fers <strong>scholarships</strong> <strong>to</strong> college students resident in Hampden County (MA)<br />

who are graduates <strong>of</strong> Hampden County secondary schools .<br />

Requirements: Scholarships For Air Force Enlisted Dependent Children And Air Force<br />

Sergeants Association Auxiliary Members<br />

<strong>The</strong> Air Force Sergeants Association (AFSA) and <strong>the</strong> Airmen Memorial Foundation (AMF) join<br />

<strong>to</strong>ge<strong>the</strong>r annually <strong>to</strong> conduct a scholarship program <strong>to</strong> financially assist <strong>the</strong> undergraduate studies<br />

<strong>of</strong> eligible, dependent children <strong>of</strong> Air Force, Air Force Reserve Command and Air National<br />

Guard enlisted members in active duty, retired or veteran status. Applications are screened and<br />

verified for eligibility prior <strong>to</strong> submission <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> selection committee(s). <strong>The</strong> AFSA and<br />

AUXILIARY programs <strong>have</strong> a membership requirement, but <strong>the</strong>re is none for <strong>the</strong> AMF or<br />

CMSAF programs.<br />
