Open to natural or legally adopted children of current, retired, or deceased BAC members (US Locals of the
International Union of Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers). Competition is administered by National Merit
Scholarship Corp.which conducts PSAT/NMSQT during October of students’ junior year of high school.

Eligibility Criteria:
Herbert Lehman scholarship candidates are required to be citizens of the United States and must have
outstanding potential as evidenced by their high school academic records, test scores and personal essays. They
must be of excellent character with strong recommendations from teachers, community representatives or
employers. They must demonstrate that they clearly understand their educational goals and academic abilities.
Moreover, their community and school involvements should demonstrate that they have exceptional leadership
potential with an ability to work well in diverse settings.

This Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF) is the nation’s leading organization supporting Hispanic higher
education. Founded in 1975, HSF’s vision is to strengthen the country by advancing college education among
Hispanic Americans. During its 28- year history, HSF has awarded more than 61,000 scholarships in excess of
$115 million to Hispanic students who have atteneded more than 1,700 colleges and Universities.
o College Scholarship Program (August 1 – October 15)
Hispanic heritage (one parent fully Hispanic or each parent half Hispanic)
Must have competed 12 units or credits at a U.S. accredited institution
Be an undergraduate or graduate student enrolled FULL-TIME in a degree-seeking program at a
U.S. accredited institution
Minimum 2.7 cumulative GPA required
o Community College Transfer Scholarship Program (October 1 – February 15)
Hispanic heritage (one parent fully Hispanic or each parent half Hispanic)
Be enrolled part-time or full-time at a community college
Have plans to transfer and enroll FULL-TIME in a degree-seeking program at a FOUR-YEAR
U.S. accredited institution the following academic year
Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA required
o High School Scholarship Program (October 1 – February 15)
Hispanic heritage (one parent fully Hispanic or each parent half Hispanic)
Be a graduating high school senior
Have plans to enroll FULL-TIME in a degree-seeking program at a U.S. accredited institution
the following academic year
Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA required
o Partnership & Internship Programs (application deadlines vary by program)
