Eligibility Criteria:<br />

Herbert Lehman scholarship candidates are required <strong>to</strong> be citizens <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> United States and must <strong>have</strong><br />

outstanding potential as evidenced by <strong>the</strong>ir high school academic records, test scores and personal essays. <strong>The</strong>y<br />

must be <strong>of</strong> excellent character with strong recommendations from teachers, community representatives or<br />

employers. <strong>The</strong>y must demonstrate that <strong>the</strong>y clearly understand <strong>the</strong>ir educational goals and academic abilities.<br />

Moreover, <strong>the</strong>ir community and school involvements should demonstrate that <strong>the</strong>y <strong>have</strong> exceptional leadership<br />

potential with an ability <strong>to</strong> work well in diverse settings.<br />

This Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF) is <strong>the</strong> nation’s leading organization supporting Hispanic higher<br />

education. Founded in 1975, HSF’s vision is <strong>to</strong> streng<strong>the</strong>n <strong>the</strong> country by advancing college education among<br />

Hispanic Americans. During its 28- year his<strong>to</strong>ry, HSF has awarded more than 61,000 <strong>scholarships</strong> in excess <strong>of</strong><br />

Must <strong>have</strong> competed 12 units or credits at a U.S. accredited institution<br />

Be an undergraduate or graduate student enrolled FULL-TIME in a degree-seeking program at a<br />

U.S. accredited institution<br />

Minimum 2.7 cumulative GPA required<br />

o Community College Transfer Scholarship Program (Oc<strong>to</strong>ber 1 – February 15)<br />

Hispanic heritage (one parent fully Hispanic or each parent half Hispanic)<br />

Be enrolled part-time or full-time at a community college<br />

Have plans <strong>to</strong> transfer and enroll FULL-TIME in a degree-seeking program at a FOUR-YEAR<br />

U.S. accredited institution <strong>the</strong> <strong>following</strong> academic year<br />

Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA required<br />

o High School Scholarship Program (Oc<strong>to</strong>ber 1 – February 15)<br />

Hispanic heritage (one parent fully Hispanic or each parent half Hispanic)<br />

Be a graduating high school senior<br />

Have plans <strong>to</strong> enroll FULL-TIME in a degree-seeking program at a U.S. accredited institution<br />

Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA required<br />

o Partnership & Internship Programs (application deadlines vary by program)<br />
