Scholarship Criteria:<br />

This scholarship is available <strong>to</strong> both current undergraduate students in any field <strong>of</strong> study and students expecting<br />

<strong>to</strong> enter university in 2006 or 2007. Recipients <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>scholarships</strong> will be determined based on quality <strong>of</strong> work<br />

submitted.<br />

• Families <strong>of</strong> Freedom Scholarship Fund and <strong>the</strong> Jack Kent Cooke Foundation<br />

<strong>The</strong> Families <strong>of</strong> Freedom Scholarship Fund was established <strong>to</strong> provide education assistance for postsecondary<br />

study <strong>to</strong> members <strong>of</strong> families impacted by events <strong>of</strong> September 11 th . Contribu<strong>to</strong>rs <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund want <strong>to</strong> ensure<br />

that <strong>the</strong> children and spouses <strong>of</strong> those who died or were permanently disabled will <strong>have</strong> <strong>the</strong> opportunity <strong>to</strong><br />

continue <strong>the</strong>ir education. <strong>The</strong> Citizens’ Scholarship Foundation <strong>of</strong> American is also coordinating efforts <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

Jack Kent Cooke Foundation which has established a 1 million scholarship fund, <strong>the</strong> Bridge <strong>to</strong> Tomorrow<br />

Grant Program, for <strong>the</strong> dependent children and spouses <strong>of</strong> persons killed, missing. Or permanently disabled in<br />

<strong>the</strong> terrorist attacks.<br />

• Federal Employee Education & Assistance Fund (FEEA) Scholarships & Loans<br />

<strong>The</strong> FEEA awarded college <strong>scholarships</strong> exclusively <strong>to</strong> federal and postal employees and <strong>the</strong>ir family members.<br />

Applications are available from January through March <strong>of</strong> each year – during those months <strong>the</strong> application will<br />

appear for downloading. Applications are due back at FEEA headquarters by March 31, and awards are made in<br />

August in time for fall school term. Eligible applicants include current civilian federal and postal employees<br />

with at least three years <strong>of</strong> federal service and <strong>the</strong>ir dependent family members (children and spouses). Awards<br />

are strictly merit based and for one year only, non renewable. Recipients may reenter <strong>the</strong> competition each year.<br />

FEEA Student Loans through Capital for Knowledge (R) – Capital for Knowledge (R) <strong>of</strong>fers a variety <strong>of</strong><br />

flexible borrowing options: Private Loans for full-time, half-time or less than half-time students, with loan<br />

amount ranging from $1,500 <strong>to</strong> $25,000 a year; Computer Financing – <strong>of</strong>fers students affordable computer<br />

loans up <strong>to</strong> $7,500 that enable you <strong>to</strong> finance any brand <strong>of</strong> computer, as well as s<strong>of</strong>tware and peripherals. Visit<br />
