<strong>The</strong> BCTGM International Scholarship Program awards ten (10) $1,000 one-time awards each year. <strong>The</strong><br />

competition is open <strong>to</strong> members <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> BCTGM and <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> children <strong>of</strong> members, all <strong>of</strong> whom must meet <strong>the</strong><br />

eligibility requirements established by <strong>the</strong> General Executive Board as well as <strong>the</strong> Rules and Procedures which<br />

<strong>the</strong> GEB has also approved.<br />

<strong>The</strong> Billy Cheverie Memorial Scholarship provides scholarship assistance <strong>to</strong> graduating seniors <strong>of</strong> Portsmouth,<br />

York, and Winnacunnet high schools, and Traip Academy.<br />

Students from <strong>the</strong>se communities who attend St. Thomas High School, Philips Exeter Academy, or Berwick<br />

Academy are also eligible <strong>to</strong> apply.<br />

Awards are made <strong>to</strong> students who demonstrate a commitment <strong>to</strong> leadership, community service and academic<br />

effort. Fund advisors also <strong>have</strong> an interest in students who <strong>have</strong> participated in athletics.<br />

Who is eligible <strong>to</strong> apply? Be an Eagle Scout and <strong>have</strong> received credentials from <strong>the</strong> national <strong>of</strong>fice.<br />

Be a graduating high school senior entering college in <strong>the</strong> year a scholarship is applied for. Scholarships are<br />

awarded on <strong>to</strong> those who graduate from high school in <strong>the</strong> calendar year in which <strong>scholarships</strong> are presented.<br />

Scouts whose Eagle Scout board <strong>of</strong> review are held <strong>the</strong> same year <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir high school graduation may apply in<br />

that calendar year. <strong>The</strong>y may receive a scholarship one time only.<br />

Scholarship amount: Up <strong>to</strong> $48,000<br />

How are <strong>the</strong> <strong>scholarships</strong> awarded? Competitive applicants must <strong>have</strong> an SAT score <strong>of</strong> at least 1090 and/or<br />

ACT score <strong>of</strong> 26, <strong>have</strong> demonstrated leadership ability in Scouting and a strong record <strong>of</strong> participation in<br />

activities outside <strong>of</strong> Scouting, demonstrate a financial need, and <strong>have</strong> an endorsement <strong>of</strong> a volunteer or<br />

pr<strong>of</strong>essional Scout leader who knows <strong>the</strong> applicant personally.<br />
